I finally found out the correct tire pressure for the MH.  It's 5-10
pounds less than what is posted on the drivers door jam.

Uh-oh.  You better clear this with You Know Who.

*You* found it Bill?  I believe we have experts here that will tell
you what tire pressure you need.

I called Crestwood, the dealer I bought it from. They are the experts!

That must be one sticky, dirty driver's door. <g>

You could be right.  I have 2 stickers on the door jam and they don't
agree with one another.  One sticker from the chassis mfgr and one
from the coach mfgr.  If memory serves me correctly the disagreement
is in both GMWR and inflation pressure and I'm sure the inflation
pressure is lower from the coach mfgr and certainly less than what the
tire inflation charts are saying.

One shouldn't follow what's on the sticker blindly.

You are so right. I wouldn't follow the sticker blindly.  That's why I
am going with what Crestwood says.  They have been selling and renting
Motorhomes for the past 38 years.  You should see how many leave there
in any givin day.  Do you think they would be giving out false
information with the liability hanging over them?

I fully understand that weighing each wheel is the best, but
conditions change. I drive with full holding tanks and sometimes empty
ones. Sometimes with just my wife and I. Other times with a pack of
kids and grand kids.

Some days I'm in 95 degree temperature. A few days later, it could be
50 degrees cooler.

You know, I've been in a number of truck stops. I don't see the
drivers adjusting the tire pressures on a constant basis.

In the ten years I've owned motorhomes, I've seen two stopped on the
side of the road with flats.  Which were probably because of old age,
not pressure.

Bill - those figures in the door jam should only be used if you have nothing
else to go on.  The right way to determine the pressure you need is to weigh
each corner, then look up the pressure your tire requires to support that
weight.  If you don't have the inflation tables for your tires, try
http://www.michelintruck.com/michelintruck/rv/rv.jsp .  While your at it,
read the Michelin RV tire guide at that site.

Correction (I should have re-read that guide before responding) - weigh each
corner, then inflate each tire on the axel to the same pressure, insuring
that pressure supports the heaviest corner.   The guide spells this out on
page 6.

How did you find it?

Did you weigh the rig at each wheel position when fully loaded for travel?
Did you consult the appropriate load-inflation table from your tire
manufacturer? Did you read the Michelin RV Tire Guide in its entirety--and
follow their recommendations?

If not, then you didn't find the "correct pressure."

Anyone ever notice that when the odor of tire pressure appears, certain
nuisance flies do too?
