Roof caulk question

I bought two 360 tank vents.  In order to install the new ones, I need to
take the old ones off, install these, and put new caulk.

Is there a special caulk, or is a good 25 year Home Depot Silicone good
enough?

The answer is the same as the last time you asked. It depends on what kind
of roof you have. A rubber roof takes one kind of caulk, a fiberglass one
something different, and I think aluminum something else.

When you tell us what kind of roof you have on your RV the question can be
answered correctly.

Sorry, Bob.  I think it is rubber roof.  It has a crosshatch pattern that is
very small, and it yields to a thumbnail pressure.  It is white, and I would
have to call it rubber.

Sorry for not being specific.  Also, I travel, so sometimes do not get
answers, or when I get back, and there are 197,348 posts, I don't really
sift through them.  Sometimes I only have a couple of days to post a
question and then watch for answers.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

It caused you inconvenience, not me. You are the one looking for the answer,
not me. But, I went to the Camping World web site, typed "rubber roof caulk"
into the Product Search area and got this:

http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=8579&src=SRQB

As I remember you live in Las Vegas. Drive out to CW, and tell the folks
what you need and the nice person will take you to the isle where it is
stocked. I don't know if this product is self leveling, but they can tell
you that at CW.

No, you cannot use household caulk for it.

Thanks.  I guess the short answer is that I can't use a off the rack caulk.
I should have asked when I got the vents.  Duh.

I have just been a lot more scatterbrained lately since an accident last
year.

Will be out that way soon (it is on the other side of the valley from me),
and get a couple of tubes of it.  There are a couple of spots that look like
they could use some goop while I am up on the roof.

It has just been so goddam hot here.  Up to 120, and now, only 103, but rain
forecast for a week.

Hope to get in the old buggy soon and make some miles.  We have a sales trip
to Northern Nevada at the end of the month.  Have to go back to Cedar City
Friday and close on the cabin, so might drive MONGO up for that.

Doctor appts, and unexpected expectations have shot a big hole in this
summer's travels.  Just short trips by air or car.

If you have some areas that look torn, or a small puncture use EternaBond
tape. They sell it at CW. It's not cheap but it'll last longer than you'll
own the MH.

What's on there is a medium gray, don't know if from original color, age, or
dirt.  It is still very pliable.  To the point that maybe I just need to
press it back together or putty knife it down.  It is just starting to crack
a bit here and there and look a little bedraggled.

Like I say, it's so hot, I don't want to get up there any time soon, unless
I go out and work for a couple of hours at first light.
