Hello all,
I'm in search of a RV with a certain floor plan. I was hoping of all the
fine folks who visit here, someone might know of one or own one like
this to give me a lead on models I can look at.
It's for my folks who are in their 80s. Ideally they'd like a king or
queen bed in the back (rear bedroom) **but it must have a walkway on
both sides of the bed.** (Beds that are stuck in the corner won't do.
Mom is too old to have Dad crawling over her to use the bathroom at
night.) Twin beds in back would be an okay alternative.
They'd also like a couch in front with either capt chairs and table or
bench dinette.
They only want to spend 10-15k so it has to be an older model. If an RV,
no longer than 27' (or it won't fit in the RV space in the backyard),
and if a trailer, shorter [due to pulling the weight and also cause it
doesn't have to be so big when you don't waste room on a cab].
They presently own a Southwind Class A 27'. It has the twin beds in back
and they spent the last year fixing it up primo. All new carpet, new
upholstery, sealed the roof, etc... looks brand new. They love the back
bedroom but they don't find the bench-style dinette comfortable to sit
for long periods of time, and there is no couch, only their driver's
chairs. Since they *are* older, they spend a lot of time *in* the coach
when they go anywhere, so a comfortable living space is important to
them.
Any help would be massively appreciated!

Have you, or they, checked out having the stuff they do not like customized
(if possible)? While it it is probably not cheap to do neither is switching
RVs.
Just curious.

Curiosity killed the cat. Satisfaction brought it back.

Nice creative thinking there, but not possible in this case. Switching
rv's shouldn't be too expensive as they can get good money for their
Southwind which looks new inside and out (and everything works). The
motor is strong and therm never gets over half-way, etc. They've made a
gazillion improvements to it too. It's tip-top. So if they get good
money, they were hoping to replace it for close to same. Look for that
"good deal" from a pp or whatever... but I'm not sure there is a model
to look *for*.

We looked for the same floor plan, and motorhomes with the one you want
are definitely in the minority. But, they are out there.
It's longer than they want, but the Winnie Adventurer 34WQ (queen bed)
and 34WK (king bed) models from the mid-90's otherwise match your
description to a "T." They are also *much* easier to drive than late
70's-era Southwinds (we went from one to the other), which might help
make up for the increased length.

Thank you. Yeah, finding this plan in larger rv's is fairly easy,
(comparatively speaking!). which is why I included the length
prohibitor. ;-) Aside from them not having room on their property to
store anything larger than a 27', they had a 1979 22' Fireball [Class C]
before this, and Mom (who is high strung) had to make a huge sacrifice
going to the Southwind [27'] when they discovered they could not get a
back bedroom in anything smaller with any kind of room inside.
But they are maxed at this length for many reasons. Even my Dad would
not feel comfortable driving anything bigger at this point in his life.
(But I appreciate the fact it is easier to drive the Winnie.)
Thanks for the input.

Check out Bigfoot. They have a 27' with slideouts that might work.
There's also Adventurer - they have some good choices. These are
Canadian-made, but are also available through many US dealers. I would
also recommend Triple E because we have owned a terrific Triple E Class
C motorhome for 16 years, but only their longer models might suit.

Thank you! Will check those out. :)
