same models, different names

We're about to take the plunge and buy our first motorhome.  While
researching the various models available I have become increasingly
confused because I find virtually identical models with different names.
For instance, I can find a class C Winnebago with the 24V floor plan
and the very same thing in an Itasca.  Is this simply like General
Motors selling a Chevrolet and a Pontiac that are the same basic car
with minor cosmetic changes, or is there more to it?  Can somebody point
me to a chart or site that lists who makes which models and the
differences between seemingly identical models?

TIA,
mdh

P.S. - Recommendations for _honest_ RV dealers near the Arlington, Texas
area would be appreciated as well as advice on which ones to avoid.

Michael,

Try this web site, most if not all of the major US makers are also
members of the Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association.

As to the differences between brands made by the same manufacture your
on your own.

BTW Itasca is made by Winnebago

It looks like Indiana is a real hotbed of RV production.
