Greetings,
I am seeking recommendations for a used travel trailer with
the following usage profile.
*Thanks in advance*
1. Will be used continuously in the Lake Tahoe area at one campground
from May to October. Will be stored in Reno area during the off-season.
2. The location has no electricity or water hook-ups. Water can be
brought to the TT. There is electricity in the camp office.
3. Bathroom and showers are available at the campground within
walking/cycling distance of the TT. So shower/bathroom in the TT is not
the highest priority.
4. On occasion, the TT will be used to go on short trips away from
the main campground.
5. The towing vehicle is a 2000 Toyota Sienna XLE.
6. Most of the time only one adult will be using the TT. On occasion,
two married adults and 2 children will be using the TT. The adults can
sleep on the same bed if it is a Queen size or larger. The children
will need separate beds.
8. Reliability, low maintenance and ease of winterization are high
priorities: time is limited for fun not for dealing with the equipment.
9. Good thermal insulation is very important, nights can be very cold.
10. Good ventilation, fresh air access.
11. The TT kitchen will be used for light meal preparation only:
breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, bbq for dinner
12. Budget in the $5-8K range.
13. Good resale value
14. Access to skilled repair facility just in case

With that vehicle you are limited to 3500#, this is not much weight for a
travel trailer and gear inside of it. Your choice will be limited to the
"lite versions" Sunline lite is a decent one, look at floor plans available
and hope you can find a used one with the FP that you like.
You may want to consider a pop-up camper as these are much larger and
lighter.
Good luck,
Ed

They can be lighter, but newer ones aren't lighter by much. And some are
bumping the limit. Personally, I wouldn't tow a 3500 pound trailer with a
vehicle rated for 3500 pounds. I'd rather have some reserve capacity in an
emergent situation.
