Woohoo, an on topic post - I am overjoyed.
Yes you can add slideout but IMHO it is a cost prohibitive effort.
I will search out the outfit doing this for you and report back.

I'm sorry that I couldn't talk about katrina, world hunger, or flat
feet, but those topics are full of people talking about motorcycles.
Let me know where I can find the info., it may cost a fortune to have
someone do the work, but I'm more interested in doing it myself.

My BIL has a Serengetti with an aftermarket slide. Hard to tell it's
an add on inside the coach, but outside the chrome trim around the
edges has lots of ripples, screw heads not seated properly, slight
gaps in many places.
He bought it from a used RV lot and was told the slide was a factory
option, but they were throwing in the extra cost to keep the sale
price down. Right.
Why is it that airline pilots think they know all there is to know
about everything?

Hi,
There are companies around who do this, it's not cheap. Trying to do
it yourself is probably even more expensive. The sidewalls and top
around the slide out probably have to be reinforced and maybe the frame
too, depending upon the RV.
The other thing is finding out where you can get a slide out to install
and what kind, hydraulic or electric. You can probably do a Google
search and find out the slide out manufacturers, HWH makes hydraulic
ones can't remember the electric manufacturers but there are at least
two or more who make them. If they will sell you a slide out assembly
is another thing. If you can find one to buy they come with
instructions I'm sure. Good luck.
Take care and Happy Campin...

Get a copy of Trailer Life magazine. There's an ad in there from
company or two maybe, that adds slides.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "...holy sh.t...what a ride!"

There's a company in Gilbert, Arizona near Phoenix that does this kind of
work. I have seen their ads in FMCA and Motorhome Magazines. A friend of
mine had a living area slide installed in his Bounder. Couch and dinette.
It was a beautiful job and, as far as I know, never caused any problems.
In addition to the slide, he also had a lot of renovation work down to the
interior. His total cost was around $15,000.

Slide outs add a lot of weight to a rig. Besides reducing the cargo
capacity of your RV it might require beefing up the frame. By the time you
are done adding everything the cargo (carrying) capacity of your RV may be
so low as to be unusable.
