We have 30ft T.T. total 49ft w/Ford Expedition.
!. We plan on going from Bellingham to Juneau, renting cabin w/shower. Is
this a reasonably comfortable way to travel for an older couple ?
2. We want to go June 15th thru July 15th and park our trailer in Juneau at
Spruce Meadow RV. Is this a good time (weather wise) to go and is the Spruce
Meadow RV the place to stay for 3 weeks ?
3. We are thinking of doing this in place of a "Cruise Ship" with the
thought that we will be able to see more and enjoy many more places,
traveling with car & short boat trips out of Juneau. Is this a wise thing to
do in your opinion ?
Any comments regarding these questions or anything else you would advise
would be appreciated, positive or negative.
I have read many posts in this forum and others and nothing that has been
said scares me, such as handling trailer on ferry.
Thanks for your help in making us better understand what we are planning to
do.

Mike & Liz, we were given a cruise up there this year and really loved the
scenery. We were there in late Aug, Early Sept. and I would think the
weather at the time you are talking about would be very nice there. My wife
fell in love with the area.
We plan to go back to AK by MH, and I must admit I am curious what the fares
are running on the Ferry, though I know there would be some price
differences going to the mainland. If you don't mind sharing what the cost
is, by E-Mail would be fine, I would appreciate it. We did visit Sitka,
Ketchikan and Juneau, all islands, but absolutely loved the area. We are
full timers, and that was the first time we were both out of our MH for
better than a week.
Not much help I know, but would appreciate any information.
Hope the trip works out for you, you will love it.

Dave W. Thanks for your reply. Here is some information I got from the ferry
link below.
http://www.akferry.org/
I did this because of your comments and many comments I received when I
posted to the RV Net open forum at the link below.
http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/16306071.cfm
If you go to my post you will see the many answers I received and what
prompted me to do this exercise to see what the costs would be to stop at
some of the islands along the way (and stay at motels) as suggested by some
of those answers.
We are now considering just taking our car (no T. Trailer) on the ferry and
planning a trip of this nature. On the return trip we would leave Juneau or
Anchorage (by ferry w/car) and stop at 3 different locations on the way to
Bellingham.
As you can tell, we haven't completely decided and I'm going to pursue it
further.
If you want to e-mail me direct it would be OK. meflanni@onemain.com
