Washer/Dryer in Motorcoach vs 5er

There has to be more to this than just the issue of space.  The coaches
feature the little W/D combo that might do 2 or 3 pairs of socks, while many
5ers have a condo-size stackable unit that looks like it might actually
serve a purpose.  When asked "Why?", I usually get either "It's just a
matter of space" or "I don't know." Yet the coaches all have space above the
little guy to store stuff.

Is there another reason, such as electric or water?

No. As long as the space is available you can put a stacked unit in. Lots of
fivers have the small units as well.

We have a Splendide 2000S - a combo W/D that'll do lots more than "2 or 3
pairs of socks" - and truly enjoy it. In fact, we're considering getting one
as an eventual replacement for the conventional seperates at our house since
it gets the clothes cleaner than any other machine we've ever had and uses
far less water, as well. [12 gallons for a complete load - including
pre-wash cycle!]

The design of our 5er didn't lend itself to a stacked unit.

We have  a Kenmore (Sears) stack unit in our 5er and my wife loves it.
It is so much easier than going to a laundry and no worry with
quarters. Lady in one park this summer probably had 10 lbs. of quarters
for future loads.

At first, SWMBO was a bit reticent about using the Splendide but, when she
saw the results of the first load through it, fell in love with it. <G>

She has a strong dislike of washaterias since, having once been a manager of
an apartment complex, she's all too aware of the misuse of the machines. She
is, also, *extremely* particular when it comes to laundring clothes. [Since,
by using her methods, my clothes last far longer - thus saving a *lot* of
money - I not only have no complaints but, even, encourage her efforts. <G>]

And then there's the "convenience factor" of running a load any time that
you want to - even while tooling down the road (if, like us, you have an
on-board genset).  <VBG>
