I felt obligated to warn people away from doing business at the
Universal Marine & RV dealership in Rochester Minnesota. My own
experience was in buying a used class C motorhome from them. They sold
it to me with a broken fuel gauge, promising to pay for the repairs
after I had them made in my hometown, which is not near Rochester.
(They claimed they thought they had it fixed, but it was still broken
on the day I showed up to drive it home.) On the maiden voyage home,
after the engine warmed up, the RV stalled everytime I took my foot off
the gas pedal. Definitely the most unsafe ride I've taken in any
vehicle. Many phone calls to Universal were made, with continuing
promises by them to take care of the bills for the repairs. However,
they ignored the repair bills I sent to them, as they also ignored my
subsequent phone calls and letters written to them. My only recourse
now is a legal one, which is a hassle, but then they desperately
deserve to have someone rip them a new one.
I would suggest that no one is desperate enough to tolerate the kind of
crap that these guys dish out. Anyplace else would be more reputable
to find your RV. But, if you want some salesman to tell you everything
he thinks you want to hear before the sale, and then don't mind his
becoming a total jerk-off after the sale, then this is the place for
you.

The next time you buy any type vehicle used, my advice to you is GET
IT INSPECTED by someone other than the seller. It appears that you
never road tested the rig and even took delivery with known defects -
both a no-no. I hope your sales contract doesn't say "sold as is".

Apart from a rag dipped in gasoline hanging from the gas fill hole I am not
sure there is anything more dangerous.
I feel for you I really do but your best control scenario is before you fork
the money over.
Wishing you good luck on your legal strategy. If you are planning that then
you may want to delete this post.
