There are independent mattress retailers in ever major market that
have a manufacturing room in the back. Just test what they have on
display and if one feels righ for you, they can have your size in a
couple of days.

I went to Verlo Mattress Store and got a nice mattress ; they also cut
it to my exact dimensions.  It was a 50 x 72 " .  I think it cost $165
total. Nice mattress. Comfortable.  8" thick.

Use what you like.  Motorhome mattresses are usually a ridiculously bad
mattress.  More like a foam boat cushion, and a poor one at that.

We like the air mattresses.  The cheap $20 Coleman's we buy at Target.  We
keep a spare under the bed pedestal, and if there is a problem, just pull it
out and fill a new one.

We have a waterbed at home, and like a softer mattress.  So, the air
mattresses are good for US.  We also use these at our cabin where we have
the room to have regular sizes.

There are no good mattresses.

There are no bad mattresses.

There's no best.

There's no worst.

There's no recommendations.

It's just what you like.

I like the blow up air mattresses and small pillows, and others may hate
them.  I personally hate hard mattresses and fat pillows.  Does what I like
make a difference in YOUR life?  I didn't think so.

YMM(and probably does)V

I ended up getting a high-quality futon mattress along with one of
those "memory foam" add-ons from Costco and it works great!

but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "...holy sh.t...what a ride!"

I just did some checking on my mattress and it is reversible from plush
(current position) to firm....flipped it over and seems like it will be a
BUNCH better...
need to get put in the doghouse and spend the nite there to test it      :-)

We used City Mattress Factory in Fort Worth and bought a short queen
pillowtop that is more comfortable than our home mattress for about $200.
