Wayne - 21 Dec 2005 23:40 GMT Sorry for being vague. I'm looking for a diesel pusher, 36' to 40' class A motorhome.

In the range from 350,000 to 600,000 or so, Country Coach.
Below 350,000 Winnebago.
Lots of folks like Monaco, I don't, based on experience of friends who have spent weeks of every summer at the factory getting repairs done. I mean the same people there, every year.

As far as I know, only in CA and TX and those depend on, in the case of CA, over 40 feet, and TX over, I think, 26,000 GVWR. There may be others, but I'm not aware of them.
The special license is needed only if you are a resident of that state, or license in that state.

before going any further with this. I read his book from the library and it was very revealing, especially about Class As. He has been in the business for 30 years or so, and takes no prisoners <G> He says he is unpopular because his big thing is safety, and he has unkind things to say about some very expensive Class As. eg, did you know that many Class As have no front bumper? They have no such thing as a five mph no- damage thing like your car. They are pretty to look at, but totally flimsy except for some. Class As are notorious for "disintegrating " in highway accidents. They are not a bus. ( A converted bus RV is still a "real vehicle") Another big thing was "balance" where they put the weighty items in the wrong spots and made the whole thing unstable in some models. Plus the usual horror shows of shoddy workmanship.
Sounds like you have lots of money you are anxious to spend and I'm sure there are lots of dealers anxious to have it. Before you lose it, if you invest in the above, I think you will be glad you did. You can then have confidence that you aren't being taken to the cleaners for a POS RV.

Will Sill - 28 Dec 2005 12:31 GMT I see where "BF Lake" <nomail@nospam.com> posted the best and most thorough advice on this topic. IN the unlikely event that some have him plonked and haven't plonked me, here's his post again:

Allow me to add that JD Gallant (RVCG) is opinionated and not always right - that said, he's the ONLY credible source of reasonably unbiased rv buying advice.

It happens that there is a thread running on this very thing: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/16760051.cfm
showing the range of reactions to the ratings by a small sample of Class A owners.
Sort of related topic--I wonder how the builders handle things when filling a "custom" order? The customer is unlikely to know much about weight distribution, etc. Does the builder tell him he can't have what he wants or just build the thing?

Is this the best you can do? Obscenities? I have many US friends, but at the rate you are going into debt you will soon be one of the Third World nations. I really don't look forward to that though. You really cannot afford to be the Super Power you would like to be. That's what happened to The U.S.S.R. some years ago. Other Countries are paying off their Debt, not increasing it. http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/faq.html Canada does not count on "Dear old Uncle Sam" We really have no need for the USA. That's just a figment of your imagination. You generate more risk than you cure. If it wasn't for NAFTA we could sell our oil and gas and Water to other Countries. Yes, we have many US Auto plants in Canada, but also many Japanese Auto plants also. Just because we do not want to go to war, why do you look down on us? You really need our Water, Oil and Gas. If you do not have access to it, China and India will soon surpass you. Then why are you so hard nosed? You are our biggest trading partner, but remember that goes both ways. You really need a dose of humility, and unfortunately it's coming fast. Just think....What Countries now support you? Geoff.

As for your rant we are well aware of the problems you cite, how else could we explain our desperate attempt to steal the Iraqis oil. And right now, we are essentially stuck with a blithering idiot for the next 3 years; however, change will come just in time when we will be able to exchange our dollar for Mexican pesos at par.

A frightening, if not altogether implausible, thought. Today it is about 11 pesos to the dollar.
Right now, an unfortunate village in Texas is missing its idiot. And we are going broke.

You Bush haters should really make at least some attempt to pose a logical and factually based comment.
The same libs that accuse us of stealing oil are the same low IQ people that blame Bush for not lowering the price of oil?? Of course, the President has little or no control over commodity pricing.

The problem when you are brainwashed is that you loose your ability to think on your own. BTW, the cancelled check from the few barrels out of the 6 million prewar exports that did make it out of Iraq would suffice.

If we wanted to take their oil, what would stop us? The Iraqi military that you libs claim have not been trained so they couldn't stop us if they tried? You make no sense logically.
BTW, I believe the word is 'lose' not 'loose'.
Then, what 'cancelled check'? I haven't a clue what you are talking about.
But then, I don't believe you do either.

Herald, Herald! You challenge me and when I respond you complain further. Oh well, no satisfying some children.
I am not sure what, "is it supposed to enhance more credibility" means. Continuing, shouldn't the word 'where' be 'were'? And for proper grammar and construction, shouldn't there be a comma after the word "word"? And you are still too stupid to spell 'loser' correctly. 'Looser' more properly describes your bowels.
I know, I know... you are making yourself understood and, in today's world of outcome based education you would garner a C-. Or are you just a drunk?
