nation. That's the word from the annual Highway Report Card survey of

The PA turnpike *used* to be in bad shape, but that was a while back before
they started their total reconstruction of the system. I travel most of the
length of the Pennsylvania Turnpike on a regular basis, and come to think of
it, I'm headed west on it tomorrow. I can state for a fact that the main
stretch is in great shape right now, and has been for the past couple of
years. There are still bad parts on the Northeast Extension of the system,
but it's also in good shape for the most part.

I'm surprised about Ohio being ranked so well, unless the study is focused
only on freeways. The Ohio freeways are in great shape. The facts presented
don't specify what roadways were included and excluded.

So Tennessee is No. 3 for good roads. I have lived here in
Knoxville since 1991 and I-40 has been under construction ever
since then and is still being torn up and slowed down to this
date, 15 years later. I-40 was touted as a good road in the
report, but it surely depends on which part of it you must drive on.

Well I guess all I can say is you have more of an idea of what the
conditions of the roads are in some of the other states now. ;-)

Did they finally finish I-80 in PA? Every time we drive across it, they
are doing major construction.

I'd have to say California is certainly one of the worst. Interstates
have horrible washboard rippling. I-10 from Indio west towards Banning
is a good example of bone jarring highway.
Arizona has some of the best highways and roads.

Is Fresno a state?
Their roads really suck. Something falls off a vehicle, becomes a road
ornament, and then gets ground into the pavement...forever.
Bakersfield is second.
