Has anyone here ever modified their travel trailer?  We were looking for a
new camper that would expand the amount of room we had in the bathroom -
we aren't necessarily that large but found it is so difficult to perform
certain duties that we were thinking of changing.

To make a long story kinda short - we have a 23' Coyote hybrid that we are
VERY happy with and don't want to go to a 30+' trailer just because of
this (bathroom space) issue.

It occured to me the other day that we could probably just knock out one
short wall (next to the toilet) and then do some reconstruction that would
give the required space.  If we could re-orient the toilet a bit we would
have it made!

To further the plan, I thought we could do sliding door for the rear
bedroom and do something with the missing (existing) bathroom door to
provide a bathroom that extends across the trailer giving plenty of
privacy and a bigger changing room besides.

I don't think any of these modifications would hurt the structural
integrity and I am sure there isn't even any wiring in the wall of
interest.  Could be new wallpaper and tiling requirements.

Just want to know if anyone has any advice about how to handle this.  If
successful, can I patent/sell this back to the manufacturer?  I'm sure
there are others out there with the same desires...

Thanks

You will have to be more specific about the TT you have so I
can bring up a floor plan. Who makes it.

Sorry about that, you can see the floorplan at the following link.  The
wall to be removed is the interior wall right next to the stool.  Note
also that the plan might not be quite correct in scale as we can open the
bathroom door and the forward closet door and they link up in about the
middle of the cabin giving privacy - works but just not ideal...

Thanks In Advance!

First I would make sure the short wall is in no way helping
to provide support to the rear fold down section and roof.
If you make the bath room all the way across then who ever
sleeps in the rear bed is subjected to exiting at a moments
notice.
I would consider one of the accordion folding doors rather
than sliding.
You would only be able to turn the toilet centered on it's
drain. You might be able to get away with out having to add
more water line. I would go down to a camper parts supply
and have a look at your type toilet, on display there. You
could get an idea of how it is connected.
About all the help I can offer.

I don't think it is.  I might have to contact the manufacturer to be sure.

There is an emergency exit in the tent.

Considered that and may still be an option but I am also trying to cut
down on light and noise in the rear tent as that has been a (minor)
complaint when the kids are trying to sleep there especially when others
are still up and about or watching TV.

That's a good idea.  So it is sounding like that could be done without too
much fuss depending on the supply fittings.  It is still pretty cold up
here so haven't been too excited to go crawl around underneath...
