Just FYI for everyone.  Following is a copy of an e mail I just received to
answer my questions about what was this casino's policy on "dry camping" in
their parking lots.  But, then, again, I don't know when this moratorium was
issued, as I called three casinos today in Laughlin, and they all said that
"dry camping" was not allowed.  I will call the City of Laughlin this Monday
and see if I can get some definite answers.  It seems like the left and the
right hand have no idea what the other is doing in Laughlin.

Something is up, as the whole State is enforcing this law that is already on
the books.  It came to their attention because of flagrant health violations
by the slobs.  So, as a resident of Nevada, I shall try to keep all up to
speed.

(e mail follows)

Dear Mr. BXXXXX,

Thank you for taking the time to send us your query. Here is the latest info
that we have. There is at this moment a 120 day moratorium in effect while
all is sorted out, so tell everyone to come on.

If I can be of further assistance please feel free to contact me via email
or call direct at 702-298-7135.

We had no trouble in the City of Las Vegas parking our 33 ft motorhome
overnight WITH PERMISSION at casinos on the strip and off it.  Other RVs
were there too.....Mar 1 to Mar 5.  Walmart was OK too.....

I don't understand what is happening....it seems to me in the City of
Las Vegas, NOTHING....

Please let us know what develops...

Wondering,

Just arrived at TTN Las Vegas and ran into something I had never seen
before. There is a requirement that all sewer hoses be supported off
the ground. They tell me that it is a health department requirement
and that the health department makes unannounced inspections. Now how
letting the sewer hose lay on the ground is a health risk is beyond
me.  Really makes me hate government and bureaucrats especially.

No, they didn't just start enforcing because of some flagrant health
violations.   Someone "brought" this to the attention of the health
inspectors in Laughlin and at same time as a park become a KOA park.
Does something smell?  Do we see a pattern here?

I have been in San Diego this last week when the hearing was held on the
23rd.  I will do a little research and come back to the group when I get the
time to do this.  Just got back, and lots of things to do tomorrow.

Aw, c'mon, folks!   :\

I cheerfully admit I live in The Great American Desert (flyover country) but I
have been around more than a little.

The distribution of this newsgroup is international in scope.  I'm sure those
reading from another country assume Laughlin is in the USA, but give someone a
break.  Las Vegas, sure.  Reno, why not?  Laughlin?  I'll bet it's a small
town near by a recognizable city.

To me, posting an ALERT regarding a near-non-issue in some obscure town,
without further identification, is "right up there" with improper/no quoting.

Of course, if I'd kept my hands off the keyboard long enough to wait a few
minutes for a reply, we wouldn't be having this "conversation".   <sigh>

Everybody that reads this newsgroup has access to Google, and there is
no second guessing where or what Laughlin is when you google
it!!!!!!!!!!

Aw, right, you holier-than-thou gambling addicts.  I found Laughlin, Nevada.
It began in the late '60s in a boarded-up motel!!

http://www.visitlaughlin.com/about/learn-presskit-story-02.html

Fer criminey sakes!  It's a damned casino with a Zip Code!!

[muttering]  Honestly, you cheap-@$$ed bas**rds dry camp in your 6 or 7-figure
rigs and dump your black water in the parking lot to save a buck (vs paying
for a site) so you can throw just a little more money down the one-armed black
hole.

Sheesh!

Glad to see you are back on your  meds.  You were really cranky there for a

I just got back from Laughlin.  There were rows and rows of RV's at all
the Casinos.  Hard to say if they dry camped but nobody was making
anyone leave.  Riverside Casino has a pay RV park and AVI Casino does
allow dry camping but they're on the Indian reservation.  Across the
river from Laughlin on the Arizona side there are several RV dry camp
lots with free boat ferries across.

Last I heard there was a 120 day moratorium.  I have an e mail in to the
county commissioner for that area, and will post when I hear from him.

BUT, I did call three casinos the other day and they said they weren't
allowing parking.

If you find anyone who knows truly WFT is going on, please let me know.
Other than Larry, Moe, and Curly, that is.

We also just got back from Laughlin march 15.
We parked at the Bell and where told by the security person to move.
At he pioneer we got permission to stay.
Across the river where no RVs at all.
At Sam Town in Vegas we also where told that there is no dry amping
on their lot anymore unless you stay in their motel.
JV.

Is there no "official" campground within reasonable commuting distance from
the casino?

(I feel a [gambling and parsimony are mutually exclusive] rant coming on.)

I haven't been to Laughlin, NV for a number of years but there has
been an RV park at the Riverside for at least ten years and I believe
that there have been other built in the interim.  RVers are their own
worst enemy. The relatively few slobs are ruining it for everyone.  I
think you should have to pass some kind of test before you can own or
operate an RV.  Get the slobs and lousy inconsiderate drivers off the
roads.
