RV Gas Props (GM International versus AP Products)

Hi folks,  ... I have also post this message to the other rv group
(rv-travel) but thought someone here might be able to assist, so have
cross-posted.

I am a newbie subscriber to the RV groups. I am in the UK.
My name is Ian, and I run a '91 38ft Crosscountry-IVRD.
I have a question that I hope someone can help with.
My RV is getting a bit long-in-the-tooth and I need to replace most of
my Gas Props for the lockers,... but I'm having a problem.   They are
GM International Make props, but all I can find available on the Web
are AP Products versions.

Before I order a batch of these and have them shipped across the pond,
does anyone know if the balls for the old GM props fit the ends of the
current AP items available from such as 'The Hitch House' up in Canada
(My daughter is in Canook so I can get her to pick them up and ship
them to me).

I have spent the best part of 40 hours over the past 10 days searching
the Web... but it's all as clear as mud.

Can anyone help?  Thanks.    (A conversion chart of the GM
International to AP Products part numbers would be great if anyone has
such a thing)

Best guess: the AP struts will work fine. My advice, buy a pair to
try.

Tip:  Most gas struts that fail prematurely do so because they are
incorrectly installed.   If installed with the piston rod end UP the
seal dries out and allows the nitrogen to escape.   Not that they last
forever anyway!

Ha!  I want my next camper built on an assembly line that strives for THAT
depth of "minor" detail.

(Minor because doing it one way is no more or less work than doing it the
OTHER way.)

I still like Sunnybrook...

Ian,

Try <http://orrorr.com/default.asp>  They have a large selection of
gas shocks. I know that theirs are used on Bluebirds and many others.
They also have the best prices and are very helpful.
