Yep I'm in the middle of learning a lot. Couple of years back I bought a
white trailer. At the time Pace made a real good black streak remover. It
was
horsepower stuff. Had to work small areas at a time and the area better be
well ventilated as it would take your breath away. But the stuff worked!!!
It might have been strong, you had to wear gloves but it worked.

Recently I ran out of the original bottle so this time I bought 2 bottles
of what I thought was the same stuff. Little did I know they
changed the formula. Now it smells sort of citrus, is pale yellowish orange
and doesn't work for squat. Really a waste of time, effort, and money.

So before I make another bad purchaser what are most people using? I need
something that works!

I use Comet cleanser and a vegetable scrub brush.
Mix with elbow grease (aka. hard work) and apply.

"Scrubbing Bubbles" bathroom cleaner (generic works fine) and a clean sport
sock

I had heard that the Scrubbing Bubbles also works super to clean diamond
plate.

I bought a cleaner at WalMart last year that worked with minimal
scrubbing...it came in a pump spray bottle, you simply sprayed it on and
sponged the surface and it came very clean.

Remember, the black streaks come from the roof. If you don't clean the top
first, it will streak again after the next rain.

The best thing to use on black streaks everywhere, but your underwear is
WD-40.
Squirt, wipe, gone..

Black streaks are easy to remove compared to T-h-e L-o-v-e B-u-g. These guys
are made of super glue.

They're easy to remove IF a thin film of petroleum jelly [won't yellow
fiberglass] is applied *before* you run into them. They'll rinse right off.

Otherwise, a Bounce dryer sheet dipped in soapy water has worked well  for
us. <G>

Free tips for all:

"Black Streaks" are nothing more or less than DIRT.   Any suitable
detergents with the requisite amount of elbow grease will remove them.
You do NOT need "Black Streak Remover".

Once you realize how tough it is toget rid of the stains, you will
start using a good WAX.   Once the rig is properly waxed, streaks
accumulate more slowly and can be wiped off with ease.

Wax is also the secret to Love Bug removal.   You may, if you wish,
smear your rig with all sorts of concoctions intended for other
purposes, but IMO wax is the Right Stuff.

We wax our rig only annually.  The one time in 5 years I was annoyed by
a black streak on the side, up near the roof line, I just used more
cleaner wax to remove it...came right off, and left that area waxier
too.

Worked for me after we ran into a horde of love bugs last year. It got
the worst of it off. I used a nylon scrubbie pad on the residue

I used to use Simple Green on the fiberglass front of my fiver, but if
you mix it too strong, it strips the wax.  I've found a coat of good
wax applied once or twice a year and then Tilex to clean it as needed
works for me.

I have been using a couple different citrus degreasers during the past
couple of years with good success.  I think one of the is a 409 product.
Works well fof streaks and for cleaning the roof membrane.  After cleaning
with the citrus, I follow up with a normal wash/wax concentrate in water
(Turtle or similar).  My dealer said this routine was as good as using some
of the high-priced products for RVs.
