I'm turning my old travel trailer (24') into a flatbed.
Is the scrap value of the aluminium worth bothering about,
weight-wise, or not? Any thoughts? TIA.

In Wichita Kansas they are stealing aluminum, copper and other metals as
fast that they can steal trailers to haul it.  Depends on what you have
though.  Extrusion and heavier sheet is in demand.

Expect .60-.70  per pound.  Aluminum prices are currently low,  but scrap is
in demand.

That would depend on the condition of that aluminum sheeting. If the
trailer has leaked, which is most likely the case, and the sheeting
has oxidation, it may not be worth anything. With just small amounts
of oxidation, aluminum won't stay in the vat to be melted into ingots.
It'll pop out all over the place and is very dangerous.

New pennies are mostly zinc.

Old pennies last a long time in the ground.  When found with a metal
detector, lots of them look like when they were lost.  The new zinc ones
turn into an unrecognizable blob in a couple of years.

Why ask here?   Call the scrap metal dealer near you.

I just thought someone here may have scrapped a trailer
before, if there's only 20 lbs of metal on the damn thing
it wouldn't be worth bothering about, if it's 200 or 300
it probably would be. But I have no idea of the weight
involved, that's why I asked. Someone who had scrapped
a trailer would know.

For what it is worth, I saw an older single wide home with pull out that
was a mess inside the owner died and the unit became the property of
the park owner.
To make a long story short they just cut it up and threw the whole thing
away due to it not being worth it to take the aluminum to the scrap
yard. The steel frame and copper plumbing were another story. Those went
for scrap.
