My wife and I are looking forward to a first-time trip into east Tennessee
this fall. We're researching campgrounds that will accommodate a 40'+
motorcoach and would like to find some place that doesn't look like a
parking lot, which is a comment I've heard about area campgrounds.
Any suggestions?

The Pigeon Forge web site lists all the RV parks in the area and their
web sites. Most of the accommodations are just that, a place to park
the RV. The RV park isn't the destination, Pigeon Forge is.
But go there and then visit the web sites and see if they are for you.

Try the KOA in Cherokee, NC. Literally just over the mountain from
Pigeon Forge. We went there this July and it is probably one of the
nicest parks I have been to as far as facilities. Two pools (In and
Outdoors), two hot tubs. Lots of other stuff. They have a shuttle that
takes you over the mountain to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/Dollywood etc.
It was the wife and I as well as two kids in their early teens. We had
amenu planned for every night and ended up eating at the campground
kitchen. They had excellent meals at bargain prices every night. All
that said it is a little pricey but what KOA isn't?
