Havent used our rv in a while. Tried to get the fridge going, wouldnt
work. First time we hooked it up in over 6 months. The plug from the
house to the trailer was melted a little and the batteries didnt have
any water. We put in the water and tried several times to operate the
fridge. The inside of the fridge got very warm and the middle outside
part between the fridge and freezer got very hot. We tried auto mode
and gas mode. No Luck. We manually started the gas and still nothing.
We turned off gas and left on the batteries and came back 2 days later
and it was a little cold. We think it went into limp mode as now it
will not work with gas or battery. Does anyone know what the problem
could be. thank you

That's describes our over-winter interval. No big deal if going INTO storage
properly. Given your DRY battery cells, I suspect not much was done to your
rig before it was walked away from.
How OLD is the trailer and refrigerator?
Your refrigerator may be beyond repair. Good luck!

Try running the fridge on 110V before giving up on it.

When you say "will not work with gas or battery" does that mean that
the flame doesn't light or that it doesn't get cold? If the flame
doesn't light then look for gas at the burner. If your fridge is old
enough you could have a pilot that won't stay lit or a dead
thermocouple. If the burner will light but the fridge doesn't get
cold then light it up, take the cover off the back, vacuum everything
out, tap the coils vigorously and take it for a drive on a rough road.
Then park it absolutely level. If that doesn't fix it then you
probably need to recharge it and you can't likely do that if you are
asking for help here.

At the very least, replace the batteries that dried out on you. The fridge
controls work on 12 volts even though there is an AC heating element for
when you are plugged into shore power.
