After looking at this site and getting a rough estimate of at least
$5000 to replace a 40' roof, we decided we could change the roof
ourselves. Ordered Dicor roofing and installation kit from Camping World
last week. The installation kit is here, just waiting for the roofing to
arrive, so we can start the tear off and repairs.
Wish us luck.
Oh yeah, here is a new rule-of-thumb when purchasing a used RV. When
the original owner says the rubber roof was recently resealed and does
not know what was used to reseal it, assume it was done wrong.

Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for. I am glad to see that not
everybody goes to the RV shop and has this work performed.
I was beginning to get a complex, that I am too cheap or have a screw loose.
yes, it is labor intensive, that is why they can and do charge so much for
this R&R. But my budget does not allow for me to have something done that I
can do.
I guess I will have to get a helper.
The roof job looks great, I agree when you have it off, seal and replace any
bad wood, double seal joints, make it last for the next 25 years or so. You
have completely documented the R&R, thanks for a great site.

Hi, Mary
Sounds like you and Don got a new rig? Saving it for a surprise at an
upcoming PNWCO?

Alan,
Two years ago we bought a 40' park model Aljo for our daughter and her
gentleman friend to live in on our property. It is a 1993. It has 2
tip-outs and is about as big as the apartment they shared.
We have to do the repair here, as we can't move the trailer with their
stuff in it. The rubber roof arrived today.
We can't make it to PNWCO. We had planned to go in the Spring and that
fell through. Since that was the plan, we booked the Timeshare at Lake
Tahoe for this coming week. So can't do both. We are planning to come in
the Spring next year.
Don put in his retirement papers this week. His last day will be Dec 8.
We will miss all the Pinwiko'ers.

Sorry for the delay - just back from the PNWCO. We'll be looking for the
two of you next spring! Sounds like you'll have your work cut out for you on
the park model - hope the weather cooperates.

Hi Check out this site. A gentleman posted it on the newsgroup
and I found it interesting and saved it. He had plenty of
pictures and a clear explanation of what it took to do the job.
If you are truly interested this is a web page to check out.
Once you peruse it you will find out why it cost so much for
the replacement.

Good grief! What a great job he did. I wonder if he and Hunter are related?
