Genrator Problems (HELP!)

Buddy of mine has a reasonably new class C and has a problem with his
generator. It's a Onan Microquiet 4000, Model # 4KV-FA261000J.

According to him it was working fine less than a month ago. Went to
start it and exercise it the other day and it wouldn't even turn over.
The manual says that you can get a trouble code out of it by counted
the number of times the light in the start/stop switch blinks. What
he's getting is a seady 1 second on/1 second off blink with a "clunk"
noise everytime the light blinks. Nothing in the book. Battery is fully
charged.

As usual he is getting ready to use the rig. His family and ours are
getting preped to go to the Nascar race in Martinsville in a couple of
weeks.

Any help and insight into solving this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

When he lets go of the Start/Stop Switch, the existance of an error code is
indicated by 3 blinks, a pause, 3 blinks, a pause...

Lightly depressing the Stop (lower) position of the switch will then cause
the error code to be displayed.

From the symptom, the first thing to check is the connections to the battery
and to ground at BOTH ends of each cable.

For other basic Troubleshooting information, the Onan User's Manual (page 26)
has some good information. This manual can be found on-line at

<http://www.onan.com/pdf/rv/f-1123.pdf> and downloaded for future reference.

Been there, done that. The clunck I am refering to happens everytime
the light blinks, not even touching the start/stop switch. Will have
him check the fuse and grounds.
