How much would the Gear Vendors unit cost to replace? How much fluid does it
require? How much money would you avoid spending of you filled it with fluid
for $1.00 per quart? Is the risk worth avoiding spending a few dollars?

Originally GV specified standard ATF in their units but later (how
long later I do not know) changed their own specifications on the same
box to the syn product. It would seem to make sense that running it
with any good quality ATF syn fluid (such as Redline) would be OK. I
decided to ask here to see if anyone had any experience before
changing the fluid. The unit has been run for some 60,000+ miles on
standard ATF, so I am not worried about that right now. They did state
that it would BE ok, but they shift harder with the standard fluid.
For $112 dollars plus $8.12 tax for 4 quarts of the GM syn I thought I
might ask for help here.

I paid about that for syn in my f250, as per factory specs. It lasts 100k
miles.............the peace of mind was worth it.
