Anybody have any experience with this generator?  I found them
at Devlin Int'l on the web, but can't find much information.  The
few forum entries I have found seem to be somewhat positive, one
rating negative.  Amazon.com sells them.  Particularly would like
anybody's comments on the engine.

IF [that's a BIG if] they are "contractor" generators, they may be relatively
inexpensive and VERY noisy - guaranteed to ruffle the feathers of anyone
within 200 yards.

But there is about a hundred of them and only 2 or 3 suitable for
campground use.

I have no experience with this company's products.

I did notice that they advertise a model DP2000S that would seem to be
intended for camping use.  I then compared the specs with those for the
Honda EU2000i which is one of the most popular small units and would
seem to be in the same power range.

Weight:
   Honda 47 Lb.
   Duropower 75 Lb.

Noise
Honda 59 db (full power) 53 db at 1/4 power)
   Duropower 63 db

The decibel scale is logarithmic and therefore there is a great deal of
difference between 59 and 63 db.  The Honda generator is also about
twice the price of the Duropower (perhaps this is also logarithmic).

I have been to several air and trade shows and have seen these Chinese
knockoffs of the Honda line. The price is good, but what about repair parts
and service. Would be buying expensive throwaways and hope that we can get
a few years service before that happens.

You think like I do.  I also have a 2000i and bought it at the right
price.  Was still much more than the Chinese knockoffs.  Even then, the
copies won't match the performance of the Honda unit.

I'm wondering what ways the chinese copies won't match the performance
of the Honda unit?  I wanted a small, quiet portable generator that
could power sensitive equipment like an LCD HDTV, computer, etc.  I
added up the wattage of everthing I might want to run at the same time
and the eu2000i just wasn't enough because it's really only rated for
1600w continuous.  So I got the Kipor Sinemaster KGE2600ti.  It was
only a little cheaper but has 600 more watts available both continuous
and full rated power.

It's just as quiet as the Honda.  It has the same gas tank size with
the same runtime on full load, but the full load power output is
higher which makes it a more efficient generator.  Also has the eco
throttle which extends the runtime to at least 8 hours.  I've gotten a
lot more.  It's about the same size (same floor area but about 1.5"
taller) but weighs about 10lbs more due to the higher power output.

Kipor is a well established company and they have been very reliable.
I personally can't say because I've only had mine about 6 months with
maybe 100 hours on it, but no problems so far.  The warranty is the
same, 2 years.  And spare parts are readily available.

I think the only thing the Kipor can't do that the Honda can is
parallel 2 units.  But there's less need to do that because the
Kipors' continuous output is over 1.4 times the Honda with a single
unit.  And I really don't want the cost and hassle of having to use 2
generators.

The only thing I don't like is that it's messy to change the oil.  I
don't don't know what it's like to change the oil on the Honda, but
the Kipor could use some improvement in that area.

All in all, I'm really happy with it.

I don't think you can buy another?? It seems they have ceased
production on that model for some reason - maybe patent infringement.
China has started cracking down on knock off products.

It's about time.  The Kipor is a *CLASSIC* "knock off" of the Honda EU series
if there ever was one, right down to the chassis/case.  Sheesh!

That's true for models like the KGE1000Ti, KGE2000Ti, KGE300Ti.  But
the KGE2600Ti does not have an equivalent Honda model.

I don't think you're right about why that model isn't available
anymore, because just about every Honda model of inverter generator
still has an equivalent Kipor model available.  The KGE2600Ti was a
Kipor model that didn't have an equivalent Honda model.  So I did a
little internet research and I found that KGE2600Ti was discontinued
and a new, redesigned model is supposed to be released in Jan 07.
Supposedly the new model can be paralleled.  Also, the price is
supposed to go up.  All of the dealers I checked are out of the old
model.  I'm glad I bought it when I did then.

BTW, they are still available on eBay.  I found someone selling the
KGE2600Ti under it's old model number, KGE3000Ti, for $799 and free
shipping.  That's a decent price.

Whether or not an economy generator is worth the price/risk depends on
what it will be used for, how often, and where?

Will it be used in an RV? Noise ratings are critical- not only for
your sanity inside, but the ability to use it in a campground of park.
beyond that, there are enough wackos out there that you really do not
need to give them another excuse to hate RVs.

To what extent will you depend on it? Will you leave the dogs inside
during the summer while their lives depend on the air conditioner
powered by an economy generator?

If it breaks down and you have to stop in some small town, will they
be able to repair it?

If you need a small, portable generator, look at the Hondas. You can
always hand it down to the grandkids. And they are AMAZINGLY quiet.

No knowledge of the ones you were looking at, but just offering some
general thoughts.

Sometimes even free is a rip off...

Just for info, I went ahead and bought a DuroPower generator.  It's
a bit bigger than my old Coleman PowerMate and not as heavy.
It's very quiet, I can't imagine anyone objecting to its use in
a campground (as long as you don't let it run all night).  It's much
too soon to make a decent evaluation, but if it continues to perform
as it has the first few hours I've run it, I'm very happy with it.
Only problem I can see is perhaps warranty service - if ever needed -
you have to send the darn thing back to Calif.
As for maintenance, a friend also bought one and he says the local
engine shop, which services the Honda line, should be able to work
with it.
Cost was about 1/4 the cost of an equivalent Honda machine.
