My neighbor lady (retired widow with some mobility limitations) has just
purchased Class C (perhaps I should say lucked-up-on as it has 4K miles,
less than a year old at ~ 1/4 MSRP)  Monaco Esquire, Ford 450 gas with front
wheel drive.

My wife and I are making short trips with her until she is comfortable and
well acquainted with the vehicle.

My question:  What would be the best tire chain to consider for her needs.
This would likely be emergency only as she well plans every trip in advance.

TIA

Are you sure about the description?  Personally I have never seen a
Ford 450, let along any FWD class C's.

Tire chains?  WHY?

Good point.  I'll have to check as I'm going on third hand information based
on her reading of the window sticker.

How about a 450 chassis as opposed to a 450 motor?
Don't know about the front wheel drive.

That would do it. <G>

I would think that it is an E-450 a standard chassis for Class C's.

Yes, I've never seen an RV built on an F series cab/chassis.  There were a
few ambulances made that way however.

Try www.explorermotorhome.com, and Earthroamer, and a few other
limited-production RV makers.   F450's with or without 4WD.

I've seen a 27' Xplorer F450 on a consignment lot. Nice looking unit,
but bigger than I'd want to take off-road.  Talked briefly to a guy who
drove it from SC to Fla & back. He said it was 'rough-riding' and got
'poor fuel economy', tho' I suppose both are highly subjective.

Not real sure about now, but the Tiger CX used to be available
optionally on Ford or Dodge pickup chassis.  It uses the Chevy Silverado
2500HD as standard, with the 3500 as an option.  www.tigermotorhomes.com

Jim, "Guns don't kill people.  Husbands who come home early kill
people."

'06 Tiger CX on 2500HD Silverado chassis, 4x4, 8.1, Allison.

Well with extra payload capacity comes heaiver frames, axles and
springs which equals a stiffer ride and more weight to move down the
road and it takes more fuel to do it. Myself I preffer a stiffer ride
in a truck for the extra control it can give you with a heavy load
onboard or in tow.

I agree I don't think there's a front drive especially in a ford.  But Will,
here one example of the 450.

Right.  A V-10.   I'm sure there are others as well.

I'm having a hard time with the concept of a Class C with front wheel
drive.

Regardless, I drove my Class B (19', rear-wheel drive) with chains
numerous times when we lived in the mountains and had no choice if we
wanted to get to our house. There's no way I would recommend that "a
retired widow with mobility issues" attempt to do this with a Class C
under any circumstances.

If she runs into a storm she'd be better off to park it until the roads
are clear. This is not something for the faint of heart to attempt.

I cannot see how your lady friend with limited mobility would be able to
install chains, and the better the chains the more difficult they would be
to install, have her install snow tires instead.   Rudy

It pays to be obvious, especially if you have a reputation for subtlety.
