Dear Newsgroup Readers, Wanted: Motorhome to rent Apr 6 to Apr 15, 2007 for
family vacation from Baltimore Maryland MD or surrounding areas
I am interested in renting a motorhome for a family vacation, and possibly
purchasing one in the future. I guess we just needed a great positive RV
experience, trial run, to see what the wife and family think about the RV
lifestyle. When I do purchase my own motorhome, I am also considering
managing my own motorhome rental to help offset the costs of a RV that we
may only personally use once a year.
Do you rent a motorhome or do you know of any privately owned motorhomes for
rent? I would prefer to not have to drive a rental billboard around, since
I might have only this one chance to impress my family of the great RV
experience, and I don't want to chance getting a smoky dirty, poorly
maintained, or unreliable rental unit.
I am writing from the Reisterstown - Baltimore, Maryland area, and was
interested in possibly taking a motorhome to Indiana and back departing
around 4/6/07 and returning around 4/15/07.
I am a career firefighter EMT / fire engine and ladder truck driver with a
class A commercial driver's license (CDL), and my wife is a registered
nurse, with much experience towing our horse trailer. We are non smokers and
will not be taking any pets. We have three children that will be 3, 4 1/2,
and 6 years old, that will be traveling with us.
I am also very mechanically inclined, since before the fire department, I
worked as an automotive technician and have much experience working on tow
trucks and car carriers. After not using our own RV for many years we just
sold our 1976 25 foot Shasta travel trailer this past spring, that I've
owned for about 23 years, and have much experience with its RV systems. I
would be very willing to share my experience by providing honest
maintenance, repair, or even cleaning services.
Sincerely,
Joe Ryan

I expect you will have difficulty finding someone willing to do a
private rental. My advice if you really want to do something private
is to ask around your own community & see if you can't find one that
you have some connection to (friend of a friend or whatever). I
really think you would be better to contact one of the companies that
specialize in this. That way you have no insurance worries & some
assurance that - if something bad happens a long way from home - they
can look after you because they will have seen it before.

Hi,
Your best bet is to rent one from a nearby dealer. Most folks take
great pride in their motor homes and would not rent them out. Though
I've seen a few adds in magazines for personal MH's for rent. I've put
to much time, money and sweat into ours to rent it out to a stranger no
matter what their qualifications. Then there is the cost of insurance
and liability to consider.
You can inspect and should inspect any you rent from a dealer before
hand and can just refuse if it doesn't meet your expectations. Telling
a dealer it's a trail run and you might be interested in buying one
might help you get one you want to rent.
Hope this helps. Take care and Happy Campin...
