I'd like to encourage all of you members of alt.rv to come on over and
join rec.outdoors.rv-travel.

It's a great group with a lot of interesting posts and there's no
moderation so you can post whatever you want.

I've checked out alt.rv and found it just wasn't as informative or
interesting a group as the one I'm in.  So think about it and come on
over.

Bill,
I just abandon r.o.rt-t because the good information was buried in the
political BS and incessant name calling.
I encourage people to look at it, but don't expect and answer to a
question without being insulted and demeaned.

Despite your good comments on numerous _OT_ posts, you have
established yourself as a moron unworthy of help. You didn't ASK
rv-related questions - you acted like another nitwit nanny.

You absolutely DESERVED to be insulted with your last RORT post - and
apparently bailed out before even reading the flurry of replies urging
you to ask an rv question instead of whining about not getting
answers!

Will,

This is exactly what I mean.  The practical matter is, I was at the
keyboard in the process of asking for clarification on a point in a
discussion and another writer did post almost exactly the question I was
framing to post.  He was summarily insulted.  He was not a regular
writer and he did not deserve what he got.  If his question ever was
actually answered, I never found it because the tread got lost in the
flame war.

I have not looked back because I killed the subscription at that time.

Rort has the potential to be a wonderful and valuable asset.  There have
been some interesting discussions and I did learn some things of value
there, but I can live without the repeat of the main stream medium(sic)
line and the constant political BS that has no bearing on what the group
is all about.

There are other groups that I still write to regularly, but there are
also others I had abandon for the same reason.

I am old, I get tired of fighting everything.

Peace be with you,
Matt

I too am old and tired. I have learned the on the net there are rarely
manners, no holding back of any thought. A very child like atmosphere in too
many groups that very quickly turn hostile. But then that is what we see
going on in the world at large I suppose.

I rarely post anything and read very judicially. It's sad how this net thing
with all its promise of socialization has become mean and petty. Good luck
to you Matt, you are right that there are a few places where the golden rule
is practiced.

Hi Matt,
You asked exactly 0, that's zero, nada, none RV related questions on
the other RV news group.  Yet you joined in many of the OT posts.   Then
you said you abandoned the news group because their were not enough ON
Topic posts.  You may be old but you come across as hypocrite so you
don't seem to have learned anything with age.

You also have not been around long enough to know that the OP of this
thread is not who they are pretending to be.  This is some jerk who has
it in for William Boyd and has been following him around and is now
using his name to try and stir up trouble.  He to is complaining of OT
posts and in the last week or so has made more OT and rude and degrading
and useless posts then anyone he is complaining about.

Your best bet is to go to some moderated RV group and become one of the
yes men of the moderator there you won't have to knock any of these news
groups, use them to post OT and then complain the group is OT.

Take care and Happy Campin...

Not only that, but if his performance here is the same, he can expect
the same responses.

I'm reminded of the whiny shopper who asked the real estate
salesperson what kind of neighbors were around the offered property.
The agent asked: "What kind do you have now?" and when told they were
nosy, noisy and annoying replied: "They'll be pretty much the same
everywhere you go."

People who ask intelligent, on-topic questions USUALLY get help.
Those who waste keystrokes arguing and bitching will attract plenty of
unwanted responses.

Sounds like no matter where a person posts, there's always trouble and
discord.  Over on the other group a guy is constantly attacking me for
posting stories and jokes.

I do agree with what some have said about getting negative, flaming
responses from some of the "old guard."  One of the biggest offenders
is WILL SILL and he has been for years.  There are probably hundreds
of posts criticizing him for his negativity and simple grouchiness in
responding to anyone.  He must really think he's something special but
the only "special" tag I can think of for him is "special ed."

Well, waddya know?  We have a new troll.  ...and a particularly clueless one
at that.

First he crudely quotes a regular contributor (edited for clarity):

>> ...Those who waste keystrokes arguing and bitching will

Then, with his CapsLock key down, shouts the following blatherings,
confirming what he quoted above:

One would think that, with over 55 thousand newsgroups on usenet, not to
mention the myriad of others added by Google Groups, sad losers like this
would find one where they could legitimately enjoy themselves and participate
like a normal, erect-walking person.  Apparently, one would be wrong in this
case.

It's not Bill, it's a troll that first posted as Zane Larkin.  He posts
from level3.net in Seattle on a dial up connection.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Frank Tabor thinks he's the expert on everything and the net nanny to
boot.  If you want to see how the real Frank Tabor posts, type in
Frank Tabor in the "Search This Group" box and then look at the
January 22, 2006 posts he made of Fishing and RVing.  After you read
these and the way he cursed me out and called me names, then you'll
see the real hypocrite passing as Mr. Holiness Frank Tabor and part of
the reason people are getting fed up with RORT. You're a phony, Frank
and most realize that.

You see, this is why those of us who left are not there anymore.  This is
it exactly.  We don't have this here.  We do not want this here.  You
folks can throw beer bottles at each other around the campfire, and that
is fine.  It is just that the campfire is over there, not here.

Correction: We *haven't* had this here.

Unfortunately, TROLLS keep on looking for new groups to infest.

The only available counter to TROLLS such as the one that started this
thread is to totally ignore them.

Please don't feed the TROLLS.

Hi,
So why do you respond to this?  Best if you just kept quiet.  The
turkey will go away when the corn is all gone.  Besides that you can't
tell folks where they can or cannot post. If you do that you are
defeating yourself.  You don't have "this" here because the issue is not
controversial enough.  Best you can do is ignore what you don't like.
Most folks who post on RORT post here too.  Get a good tire pressure
post going and see what happens :)

Take care and Happy Campin...

Hey Rich,
That's a good idea. Go over RORT and start with a good tire pressure post
and perhaps all of  "them" will be so busy they won't have time to come here
and 'troll' ...

Hi Dave,
Ok, shall I tell "them" where you are at too or just that it was your
