>Thanks for the come back GB. I receive the heartland cats. Got a new
>one the other day. The cheap one I saw is a 2cycle unit and not
>inverter tech. The one I saw looks and feature list on the genset is
>like a Honda EU1000. The Heartland unit doesn't come close other than
>power rating.
> I won't be concerned about noise where I'll be using it, so it's not
> worth paying a lot for a low noise level. I have a Honda EU3000i for

i've got one of those little 2 stroke gennies, the european version as
that's where i live,
Bought mine 2 years ago when i was in Berlin (germany) we were staying for 2
weeks in a carpark just outside the city, right next to a U bahn station
(Underground train) and accross the road from a S bahn station (Train that
skirt around the city above and below ground), so easy to get into the
lovely city,
Anyway, the motorhome has a solar panel on the roof that had kept us in
power untill then, it was december, and the carpark was tree covered, so we
were struggeling for power, so i went round the DIY stores and found the
place selling that kind of genny cheapest, that was right on the other side
of the city, bought it took it back to the motorhome,
The journey back to the motorhome was a 20 minute walk to the nearest S bahn
stop, firts thing we did outside the store was take it out it's box, bolt
the handle on and we carried it by that, i'd guess it weighs 20 or so
Kilo's, we managed to get it back to the S bahn station... took us a little
while as whilst it's not that heavy, it does feel heavy after a while.
then we took it accross berlin by S and U bahn, then back to the motorhome,
then i found out i had lost the key to unlock the diesel can i have up under
the motorhome's floor, as i planned to empty the diesel into the van's tank,
then go to the petrol station over the road, get petrol (gasoline) for the
genny, in the end i had to carry the genny over the road, which was a busy 2
lane each way road with barriers on each side and the middle,
So the trip to the petrol station wasnt the easiest, genny weighed a bit
more with it's tank full, only takes 4 and a half litres, an imperial
gallon, plus a cap of 2 stroke oil of course,
Got the genny back, plugged it in, fired right up, it's not as noisey as you
think it would be, it's no honda EU series, but it's miles better than a
contractors generator,
It ran for a good 6 or 7 hours on a tank of fuel, (didnt run it that long in
one go, but we chanined it to the rear wheel of the van, started it when we
went out in the morning at about 10am, and would come back about 2pm after
it had been running for a good 2 hours the night before, the genny had
stoped when we got back, but it was still warm, so had recently run out of
fuel)
At home i use it rather than lugging the long extension cord down the drive
when i need to power a tool, so it's deffo light enough for me to do that
rather than get the long extension cord out.
It's not a bad genny, nowt spectacular, it's an all in one unit, the engine
is cast with the front half of the generator head, so if the engine goes,
you have to throw the lot away, cant keep the genny head for something else,
but at the prices they sell for, they are classed as disposable.

My grandfather came from Huncote, Leicestershire. My grandmother grew up
in Birmingham. They came to this country as newlyweds in the early
1900s.
Relatives still live around Markfield and that area. I've been there.
Beautiful countryside.
