There's a FMCA Jubilee in Perry Georgia the end of March.
Anyone been to that campground? Do you have to park a rig in the mud?
Comments on these events or anything about rallys?
We've never been to one.
Thanks

Do you mean camping at the Georgia National Fairgrounds? If so, you
shouldn't have to park in the mud.  They (fairgrounds) were working on
parking improvements since the last rally.  I worked it parking cars for my
squadron and it was a muddy mess.   I don't recall the coaches having
trouble, but then again I was where the vendors and car drivers parked.  I
live nearby and can check it out tomorrow if you want or if anyone else is
interested.  Does FMCA have a parking plan out for it yet?

Sure, if you are in the area.

We haven't paid for the event yet. Thursday is the deadline. It's a last
minute decision. I can't remember a parking plan.
I had noticed, several years ago, passing the fairgrounds, which is
right close to the Interstate, that it was mostly grass. That is if I am
thinking about the right place. No problem with grass when it is real
dry, maybe. But I don't think I want to try 40,000 lbs on it if it has
rained in the last 3 months. We're new at it but I don't think it would
be much fun. That's why I asked about the sites.

It can get quite muddy.  I know.

Where the rigs are parked, there is a solid gravel base under that
grass. There use to be problems in the that area, but they seem to
have it fixed.  A sad thing is, when they planned that facility, the
original plan called for 25 camping spaces!! Man have they since
learned!!

I found this map:

I'll stop by there tomorrow and see how it looks.

It looks like they paved interior roads connecting different parking areas
to the entrances.  I saw the grass & gravel area where the coaches were
parked and that itself doesn't look any different.  They also worked on the
drainage, but that wasn't the problem I saw last time.  The parking area
where folks parked their toads saw a lot of in & out traffic, combined with
a soaked ground, and the grass just tore up and was a mud pit after that.  I
don't think that is likely to happen where the coaches park.  IIRC, we had a
lot of heavy rain just prior to and on the first day, which was a big
factor.

I'm hoping that the rain Perry is suppose to get this week stays in
the clouds until it gets down to Fargo!! I've planned a boat ride for
100 people into the western Okefenokee Swamp next week and there's not
enough water to float  a dug out today. :-(

It looks like heavy rain down there tomorrow & Friday am, and maybe even a
little Saturday.  Maybe by next week the watershed will help too?  Good luck
with that!

It look like we can't fit the Company's schedule so we are now looking
at Tampa Freightliner thing instead the next week. I hope it isn't going
to rain down there.
Thanks for looking. I appreciate that a bunch.

You're welcome, glad to do it.

I didn't adequately express my appreciation for your tie and effort to
check out the campground. Again Thanks.
We wanted to go and planned it a little before I posted here then the
next day we found out we wouldn't be able to go. We may see you at Tampa
if you're going.
