Kipor gensets have been discussed in news groups and web forums in the
past and I don't recall any REAL neg comments being said about them.
Was in to Harbor Freight yesterday and noted they were stocking the
small KGE1000Ti genset once again. It's a Honda EU1000 knockoff. No
price posted so I made an inquiry about price. To keep this story short
I'll say they offered a price 3 times and got better each time(added EW
coverage).
I walking out with one for $295 with a 2 yr Extended Warranty. This is
for replacement coverage that kicks in after the 1 yr factory warranty.
If there are problems and if they can't replace with sim unit, they
will refund the full cost.
Don't see these on HF web site so don't know all the details of why the
price was as low as it was. Best price I found on the net yesterday
was ~$425 & list price $695.
If this interests you, you might want to contact your local HF store.
HF stores are independent franchise operations so the deal I got may be
limited to my local store.

HF stores often stock things that aren't on the Internet Sales website.
Don't forget that there are TWO Harbor Freight websites:
http://www/harborfreightusa.com for the "stick and brick" stores and
http://www.harborfreight.com for Internet Sales.
Only the second site has prices.
When at the first site, join their "Preferred Customer" list - not only do
you get coupons, they're for "stuff" that'll be going on sale/closeout about
2 weeks after the coupons expire. <G>

I can testify that HS has about the best warranty going.
You bring something back and they don't ask ANY questions.
They just give you a new tool and send you on your way.

It's actually pretty easy to get parts for them if you don't mind
ording online.

Humm! Lets see. Current US dist is Coast Distributing They have over
a doz warehouses in the country. I live about 15 mi from one of their
dist centers. Have about a doz authorized dealers within 40 mi and have
2 authorized repair shops within the same distance.
AM I concerned about parts availability, lets see, NOT.
I do think I've got a handle on HF and the low price. The warranty card
appears to be saying HF is a dist for the model I bought and to contact
them for service and repair work. With the EW and replacement coverage
through the local store. Again, I'm not loosing sleep over the purchase.
I did find a very large thread on Kipor on RV.net. Runs 87 pgs. Noted
within the first few pgs there was a list of 100 owners. Didn't look
through it all but appears most are pleased with their purchase. I did
see a few recent comments about US dist change this past yr and new dist
only honoring warranty work from current dealers and not gray market
sellers. One poster complaining about warranty coverage and said he had
to pay $.99 for a switch.
Oh, saw info on the new models that came out last fall and now some of
their models are set up for parallel operation.

I checked out the manual available here:
http://www.harborfreight.com/manuals/92000-92999/92335.pdf
It's very comprehensive. I was impressed when I saw they provided a
schematic. Then I got to the service limits. Wow.
