I just bought a new 5th wheel. This was an upgrade from a travel
trailer.

One of the pleasures of RVing is the ability to take my dogs with me
on the road.

I adopt unwanted Border Collies. One has only three legs, one has a
poorly healed broken back leg, one is old, and the 4th is fine. She is
just a pain in the a.s as is the whole breed.

I need a solution to allow these dogs to enter and exit the RV on
their own power. This 5th wheel sits much higher than the old TT. Has
anyone seen a ramp system that could work and still be light and
portable?

I got a piece of 3/8" plywood, routed a hand hold, covered it with contact
cement, then slapped Astroturf on it.  It's not fancy, and it's not cheap.
(It cost about two bucks), but made a big difference to them.  Feel a little
funny when we put it out, but the two of them don't slip and fall, and know
when the green ramp comes out, they're either getting in or out.

Caveat:  Make it so that it can't slide.  I have a piece of cord on the top
the loops over a seat handle to keep it from sliding and causing a problem.

Look at simple solutions before you go engineering or buying something
complex.
