Dave,
Use a TV signal switch, not a video switch. You can get then at Radio Shack,
Home Depot, maybe WalMart. They have two switched inputs or outputs and one
common connection. Hook the TV antenna to one of the inputs, the cable tv
cable to the other input. The single output (also known as switch common)
goes to the tv set. Your tv may have all this incorporated into it. Look at
the back of it and see if it has inputs (screw type coaxial connectors,
called "F" connectors) labelled "antenna" and "cable". If so you have no
need for the switch box, just hook the cable directly to the tv.
Hope this helps.

I use an "AB switch" It has one output and two inputs. One for your
cable and one for your antenna. You need to run a piece of co-ax from
the single output to the TV. Plug in the input from the antenna into A
and from the cable into B. Label the A and B so you will remember which
is which. Push the A button for the antenna. Push the B button for the
cable.
I have wired our satellite receivers this way for years so that I can
use the roof dish or a tripod when we are under trees.

Yes, they are called "A/B" switches, and would be available at
a good electronic store, or antenna supplier.

Check your TV, it may have inputs for ANT and Cable. If so, you won't
need a switch at all. Just connect Cable to Cable input, Antenna to
ANT input. Then all you have to do is change the input thru your TV
using your remote control.
