Fridge too cold

I have a 99 Dometic Fridge, Americana
It's 2 way Electric and Propane with no manual temperature control
Refrigerator section freezes (24 degrees)

When hooked up to electrical power the panel shows "auto" but it freezes
the refrigerator section.
When forced to Gas it still freezes the refrigerator section.
When 'turned off" with the panel switch, it still freezes the
refrigerator section.
When I remove the electrical plug from the rear of the fridge
(disconnect from electric power) it runs normally on propane.

What's going on? Do I need a new circuit board. I see a box that may
contain fuses but I'm reluctant to poke around any further until I get
guidance from someone whose "been there, done that".

Thanks

Not certain on your model.  I think the only way to adjust the
temperature is by moving the thermistor on the fins inside the
refrigerator.  Too cold, move the thermistor down.

I had the same problem. I would bet that it is a bad thermistor. One can
be had for under $20 USD. Before you buy one poke around your unit and do
some testing. I found the Dometic service manual on line. I think it gave
a check on the thermistor. You check resistance, it varies with
temperature and should be 450Kohms (?). On my unit I got lucky and found
that the thermistor was not screwed into the terminal board properly. I
trimmed the wire and relanded it. No problems since. Dometic was wonderful
to deal with when I called them. I just had no patience to drag a fifth
wheel into town for repair.

Good luck.

When this happens on a freon fridge, the usual thing is that you
are low on freon, and the cure is to top it off.  I'm not sure
about ammonia based fridges, but it may have something to do with
the pressure of the coolant there too.

I'd take it in and have it tested.  If it is leaking, you should
be able to smell ammonia.  And if it is leaking, you are probably
looking at replacing the unit for around $1200.

The test won't cost much, though.

Just the opposite happens with an RV frig. When it gets low it stops
cooling the frig part befor the freezer part.

Get rid of that thing before it blows up your RV. Propane is too
dangerous to be using in refrigerators.

Foul-mouthed slut!  Spawn of Satan. You'd do well to get Jesus in your
life. Change your attitude or experience God's wrath. It's your choice
to make. That's the beauty of Christianity. It's the one sure time you
WILL be held accountable for your decisions.

You're pretty darned stupid to not listen to a man who said he was God
which man then allowed himself to be cruelly executed because it was
God's plan but said he would arise from the dead  . . . and then did
exactly as he said he would. He's got my attention and respect and
reverence. I've got nothing to lose heeding his message. I've got
everything to lose ignoring it.

Correction, He's OUR God. Just because you reject Him and will burn in
hellfire forever and ever unless you repent, He remains your God, too.
Your only hope and your only way.

But, I don't know why I bother with you for Jesus said: "Give not that
which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."
Matthew 7:6  http://members.aol.com/twarren20/castswine.html

"The admonition of the Lord in our text then clearly means that his
disciples shall not give, nor minister the gospel, or its provisions,
its promises, its comforts, its ordinances, or any of its commands, to
any who are thus designated dogs, or who are in nature, disposition,
practice or appetite as unlike the regenerated and spiritual people of
God as dogs are unlike and inimical to the sheep and lambs. The gospel
is food to the saints, because it is Christ; the preaching of the gospel
is preaching Christ, and it is food to the spiritual, and hence the
ministers of the gospel are commissioned to feed the sheep and feed the
lambs; to feed the flock of God which he hath purchased with his own
blood, but charged to give not that which is holy (and the gospel and
all its ordinances are holy) to dogs. Dogs have no use for holy things,
they can do them no good, for they are not adapted to their nature or
suited to their appetites; besides, it is a desecration of holy things
to give them to dogs or to swine. It is true, that the Gospel is to be
preached to every creature, to all nations, and in all the world, for a
witness to all nations, but only those who have ears to hear can hear
what the Spirit saith to the churches. The ministers of Christ have
nothing but the Gospel to preach, and that they must preach wherever God
is pleased to open a door for them to preach, and its effect will be to
discriminate between the living and the dead. All who have been pricked
in the heart by the life-giving power of the Spirit will gladly receive
the Word, as did the quickened on the day of Pentecost, while all others
will mock and reject the testimony. But what we understand as being
intended by this admonition, is that we are forbidden to attempt to
Christianize unregenerated men, by teaching them the letter of the Word,
and applying to them the ordinances of the Gospel as a means of
salvation, by Catechisms, Bible classes, Sunday Schools, etc...as though
we could so improve their carnal minds as to make them acceptable to
God, without being born of the Spirit."

I can tell a woman from a man acting like a woman. Even on Usenet. This
Sue is some sort of a drag queen without a doubt. Either that or she's
one of those bull dyke types.

Please don't mention this to my daughter, it would be unpleasantly
disconcerting for her to learn that her mum is really a bloke after
all these years.

I've grown from just an annoying dislike to a complete and absolute
visceral and vitriolic repulsion of soap box bible/quran thumping
fundamentalist fuckwits, whether they be christians or muslims. Trust
me on this point, for one to say: "f.ck their god(s)" trends to
annoying them to their very core.

Means nothing. Vice President Dick Cheney has a lesbian daughter. She
just recently had a baby. These days you can be a dyke and still get
pregnant with artificial insemination. I think they use a turkey baster.
Or that strap-on can be dipped in semen.

Doesn't bother me as much as your foul mouth and unladylike demeanor.
It's uncouth. I wouldn't touch you with stick. Bet you're divorced and
living alone. Either that or you got knocked up out of wedlock. Typical
whore. Total lack of self-respect.

Hmmm.  We have been a Judeo-Christian country for ~225 years.  It has
not been until the last 25 or so years that we have gotten away from
those beliefs that things seem to be going to hell.  I can see a
correlation.

Yes I did and thanks. I have scheduled the repair for June but I don't
think the problem I have is related to the recall.

I have a Norcold, but it's also propane/electric.

I've had to replace the circuit board once and the thermostat once.

Both times it exhibited the same sort of problem, in that both the
freezer and the refrigerator sections froze.

The repairman said the refrigerator is set up so if it can't get a
thermostat reading, it goes on maximum freeze and this affects both
sections.

I switched to propane until I could get the new circuit board
installed and this seemed to work, but that didn't help when the
thermostat died.

Check with a Dometic repairman and see if yours has the same fail-safe
response.
