When your sitting around in your RVs

When you're sitting around in your RVs bored stiff and stuck between
dogs barking all night on either side of your campsite with the
mosquitoes so thick outside that you've gotta stay inside from sunset to
sunrise maybe you'll be fortunate enough to have Internet access so you
can keep track of this year's Tour de France.

You can follow it on your television on Versus network on cable if you
aren't to cheap to get the cable at your site. Versus is supposed to be
having complete daily coverage. Also on the Internet, Velonews is the
best place to follow the daily wars.

http://www.velonews.com/

Thanks and cheer for me (CSC) or for Levi Liephiemer (Discovery) or even
for Vinokourov (Astana). Vini's going to be tough this year, I'm afraid,
if he can stay healthy or not do something stupid. He's some athlete but
sometimes he's not doing the right things.

The Tour starts July the 7th.

This is better than peddling my a.s around town on a bike.

I wish you God speed and that you win or place well. Just remember, the
best part is the deep muscle massage after the ride!

LOL. Do you understand what you just wrote?

Did you see Liephiemer fall today?
Hope he is OK....

Levi's not racing this week. He's training for the Tour de France.

You must have been watching last week's stage 7 of the Dauphine Libere.
Levi slid out in a roundabout in the rain  while in the lead a couple
kilometers or so from the finish, breaking away trying to win the stage.
Too bad because it would have been interesting to see if Vinokourov
could have overtaken him. Levi's a good time trialist and he was down
aero and doing it. Now, we'll never know. He's OK. Just bruised up a
bit. Or, at least that's what Bruyneel says. I haven't talked to him
myself.

When your riding your  Bicycle , Shay  :

1. What do you do when you have a bowel movement coming on strong with
no toilet around , yet theres people all around you ?   RVers simply
walk a few feet and do their business in a dignified and healthy manner.
(Do you wear Depends ? Do you pack toilet paper ?)

2.  What do you do when all of a sudden the bright sunny day turns
extremely windy ,  strong storms are coming in fast, it begins to rain
like crazy, and theres tornado warnings ?  RVers simply walk a few feet
and turn on the TV to monitor the reports as they open up another
brewski and give consideration to all their options for dinner that
night.

3.  What do you do when you run over a bunch of nails or glass and
rupture both tires on your Bike ?  RVers just call for RoadSide
Assistance and enjoy the BaseBall game thats on as they wait for the Guy
to show up who then completes the entire task and wishes the RVer a very
nice day.

4.  What do you do if  youre on a very long Bike trip and meet someone
who invites you to a formal Banquet Dinner in 2 hours time ?  RVers just
walk a few feet to get a nice hot shower then go to their clothes closet
to pick out something nice to wear.  Then they splash on their favorite
cologne and head out the door .  After a very nice time...they return
and enjoy a nice nights sleep on a proper bed mattress.  (Do you have a
comfy mattress in the Tent that you pack ? Do you have a Tuxedo that you
wear on your Bike to formal occasions?)

5.  What do you do if youre gathered around a campfire and the guy with
the harmonica asks :'Hey, does anyone have a guitar?'   RV Guitarists
just walk a few feet , pick up the guitar, and return playing all four
stanzas of Kum-By-Yah.   How big is the guitar that you pack on your
Bike anyway ?

(Let me know if youd like me to continue up to number 10, Shay  :)

Oh, you think you're so clever, Dave. But your not. I'll explain why
below by answering your points one by one.

Unlike the average RVer I have complete control over my bowel movements.
I'm not some fat slob who eats a side of beef, a whole hog, two dozen
donuts and a case of beer plus snacks and has to take a dump five or six
times a day to relieve the pressure on their stomachs from the severe
squeezing of the waiste band on their size triple-X jeans. I eat
sparingly and I eat healthy food. If you must know, I take a dump first
thing in the morning each and every morning. I don't need to worry about
taking another dump the rest of the day. This is a good example of how
you RVers accept as normal that which is abnormal. I.e., eating like a
pig and being an obese slave to their frequent bowel movements.

I continue to race or train. A little severe weather doesn't stop me.
It's all part of the game. You RVers must be sissies to run and hide
from a little wind and rain. See again how you reveal your warped
priorites. Instead of being concerned with being fit, your thoughts all
day long are about food and beer and being a couch potato in front of
the TV. A relaxing life but very bad for your health.

If I'm racing, I stop and remove the bad wheel, grab a new wheel from
the mechanic who runs up to me with one in hand and I install it. It
takes about fifteen seconds. When I'm training I remove the punctured
tube, check the tire for sharps and install a new tube I carry. It takes
about three minutes. Then, I'm on my way down the road again. Again you
show the innate RVer laziness. Instead of being able to handle your own
repairs you sit and eat and drink in front of the TV and get somebody
else to do the work. Aren't you the poor guy whose had three or four
bypass operations? Ever wonder why that is, sir?

If I'm racing I tell them thanks but there's no time for that. If I'm
training I tell them thanks but I'm on a strict diet and can only
consume miminal calories. I don't have comfort as my primary concern in
life. I actually LIKE to sweat and I don't give a dam about what other
people think about it. My primary concern in life is being as fit and
fast as humanly possible. To sweat and suffer is a good thing. No pain -
no gain! I can sleep like a log an a park bench. That's what proper
exercise and a fit body does for you. You sleep and you're always
comfortable because you don't have half a ton of fat to carry around and
make you miserable.

Campfire? Who needs that? Any kind of smoke is not good for one's lungs.
If I want music I'll fire up my IPod. The only thing I pack on my bike
is a might big punch. ;-)

Yes, please do so, Dave. This is fun showing you RVers the other side of
life. A side you're too fat, dumb and lazy to even know about, let alone
enjoy. You're killing yourself with your overindulgence and you don't
even know it. I wish you'd see the light. You're a religious person.
Didn't Jesus say something about your body being your temple?

Peace, brother.

REPLY:  Its a shame you lump all RVers into the same presumptuous
category ;  you have many misconceptions about me. Im in pretty good
shape still, and need to be to do HVAC every day . Im not retired yet.
Ive never had any heart bypasses as you eluded to , and i go regularly
to the Fitness Center at the bottom of my street. I happen to like RVing
because of the nice people i meet, enjoyment of Gods handiwork thru
nature,  open fires while singing and playing the guitar,  and having a
place to relax in without the boredom of motel living.  Its a wonderful
form of freedom that i enjoy.   The constant vitrol you deliver Shad,
shows yourself to be unhappy , discontent ,  and angry.   You need to
overcome all of that and drawing near to God in personal relationship is
the answer.  It will also help to see all people as valueable in Gods
eyes .  This decision is up to you .

REPLY: Im not ' a religious person' ... I just love The Lord !  Thats
what this life is really all about. Not me or you..but The Creator who
is worthy of all praise , honor, and worship.  Peace.

As usual Dimwit Dave's a f**kin liar...Anyone who is 50 pounds
overweight (MBI) as he has fessed up to elsewhere, can't be in "good
shape" unless you consider "fat and round" to be a shape.

Dumbwit's idea of exercise is sitting in his recliner trolling for
"real human contact" on the internet

My apologies. I had you mixed up with some other individual here who
posted saying he'd just got out of the hospital after his third or fouth
time having by-pass operations on his clogged heart arteries. Glad to
hear you're trying to keep in decent shape. But, really, I think you're
the execption to the rule. People look at me in civilian clothes and
they think and say "Too skinny." Simply not so. I'm the right weight for
my height. Plain and simple. It's the fact that the average American or
European is quite overweight these days. A considerable percentage fits
the obese category and a good percent of those fit the morbidly obese
category. So this overweight population looks around at all those obese
people then looks at themselves and even if they are overweight they
aren't obese at least so they feel good about their bodies. They look at
normal people like me and think "Too skinny".  It's all because their
reference point is skewed toward the obese end.

So, enjoy your friends and your guitar picking. And count your
blessings. But appreciate them, as well. And why do you jump to
conclusions about me being unhappy, discontent and angry? I'm not that
way at all. One reason for it is I vent. Would you deny me my venting?

Praise the Lord.

REPLY:  Agree that the USA has a high percentage of obese people...with
teenagers ever increasing in this category. Its a shame.  The result of
too many conveniences , the good life,  prosperity, and living to eat .
ALot of it is based on one was raised.

REPLY:  Because it seems you are relentlessly attacking RVers
categorically ;  there are some nasty RVers just as there are some nasty
Cyclists.  Why not strive to build bridges instead of planting
minefields ?   An RVer just may save your life one day ;  and...vice
versa.  So, how aobut a truce between you and the NG RVers in here ?  I
hope you will agree that this is the wisest and best course of action to
take.  What do you think Shad ?

> What do you eat for a typical meal?

My eating habits are pretty out of the ordinary.  Except for breakfast
which I eat regularly I eat maybe a dozen small meals a day. More like
snacking than eating. I never go to bed on a full stomach. If I eat
supper it's a light meal. Pasta, fish, salad or veggies.

I eat good stuff. Meats are fish, turkey breast, chicken breast, beef
jerky and canned tuna and canned sardines in mustard sauce or Lousianna
hot sauce. The above are mostly protein. It's been recently discovered
that a mix of about 20% protein and 80% complex carbohydrates (simple
carbs are sugar, corn syrup, soft drinks, etc. complex carbs are brown
rice, pasta, pinto beans, black beans, whole wheat things, etc.) For
racing and training I eat baggettes which are little bite-sized
sandwiches made with the above and also peanut butter and jelly. I drink
lots of sports drinks to replenish salts and to keep hydrated. And I
enjoy lots of 2% milk. Cyclists need lots of calcium because without it
they can get osteoporosis. I'm not fat-shy. An athlete needs to eat some
fats. The active body needs some fats besides what it can metabolize out
of the body. Ice cream  and milkshakes are among my favorites. Fat and
calcium.

I eat fruits - all kinds of fruits - apples, bannanas which are
wonderful, peaches, pears, plums, grapes, kiwis, strawberries, oranges,
grapefruit - you name it. I eat lots of veggies - just about anything
but spinnach. I just never cared for spinnach. I love broccoli and
cauliflower and those big salads with meats, boiled eggs, cheeses and
lots of ranch dressing. The thing is if you eat stuff that's alive you
get excellent nutrition out of it and those anti-oxidants are very
important for an athlete.

I avoid any and all deep-fried and pan fried foods except for McDonalds
hot apple pies. Besides a beef steak maybe once a week I don't do much
red meat. It can clog the arteries with cholesterol. I don't do soy. It
has female hormones in it and who needs that? On the road I eat granola
bars, energy bars, dates, Payday with Protein bars, raisins, bananas,
Rice Krispy treats,  etc.

The thing is to count calories and regulate weight by balancing the
calories used with the calories eaten. The higher quality the eaten
calories the better. But, you must keep the carb/protein balance in
mind. Used to be althletes thought the answer was to carbo load. Not any
more. You absorb the carbs better when they are mixed with protein. And
liquids. You gotta drink gallons of liquids. Your piss has to just be
very light yellow. Dark yellow says dehydrated.

> Didn't you do the same thing when you had a "mechanic" bring you
> another wheel?

Well, sorta but to a limited extent. It maybe's the same as Dave having
a wheel delivered to his campground but rather than having somebody
intsall it he does it himself.

> How many calories do you consume on a typical training day?

In a typical training (or racing) day I wear a heart-rate monitor so I
can keep track of my heart rate but it's also programmed to give a
readout of calories used. Depending on how far and how hard I train, I
burn from five to eight thousand calories. It takes an additional 1,500
more calories a day just to keep my body going even for sleeping. So, I
balance the calories I eat with the calories I burn. It's easy to lose
weight because if you train hard you don't have much of an appetite. You
gotta eat a little something every half hour or so to try to keep on an
even keel. Try eating nine thousand calories a day on the go sometime.
It's not easy but you gotta do it to maintain weight. You don't want to
get so thin that you start metabolizing your muscles for energy. And
it's much better to eat lots of small portions of things a dozen or more
times a day than to sit down and eat three big meals a day.
