I don't think there is too much surprise there. It may not be the
propane lines that are the major causes. The fires in the
refrigerator area may be caused by refrigerant (contains hydrogen)
leaks. It is then ignited by the propane flame. Unfortunately that
is in an area not easily inspected by the owner.
But the rate might not be too far out of line from normal
accidents. Just reading how 600 Americans die each year as a result
of falling out of bed. Over 40,000 die each year in auto accidents.
Fifty five Americans die each day in home accidents (20000 a year).
