A good friend Ray Burgess (Rayhound) died yesterday and I will miss him a
lot. Ray was one of the first 'characters' I met when I went on the road and
began living full-time in a motorhome in 2003. I didn't like being around
him physically because his eating, drinking, smoking, and hygiene simply
grossed me out. But, on the Internet he was a gem, he is still one of the
best Internet Personalities that I have ever known. He devoted most of his
hours to communicating with people over the Internet. He created and
moderated the Yahoo Group "RV Internet by Satellite" that now has thousands
of members that will miss him too.
Ray died while fueling his bus in Lewiston, Idaho. He simply collapsed and
was gone. Nobody could revive him. His son is flying in from Hawaii to take
care of his business. I can see how the price of 120 gallons of fuel could
tend to give a person a heart attack. Especially one living on social
security like Ray.

Pretty sure I met him once when he dumped a month's worth of accumulated
sludge and plugged up the Las Palmas sewer system after paying the $5
dumping fee. Cost the two sisters a bunch of money to get it working
again. Took him 3 hours to dump and flush. I advised them to call the
sheriff when he wouldn't leave. Instead they no longer allowed BLM
boondockers to dump.

That wasn't Ray, he only had a porta-potty in his rig so he never went to a
dump station.

I thought he had an old diesel bus. I was an early visitor to the
satellite forum; on the photos page, pretty sure he had pictures of
himself with his bus.

Yes, he had an old bus but I had no plumbing, no water or holding tanks.
