Oil filters for GM

I've been having trouble locating AC Delco PF59 filters for my 2001 GMC
2500HD.
I've "heard" that GM is discontinuing the PF59 and recommending a PF46 as a
replacement.
The 46 is a smaller filter and it seems to me that in a tow vehicle a larger
filter would be more appropriate.
Anyone have any info?

I would check with your parts supply house.
Same dia threads, and base is all you need. I would go with a longer filter
before a smaller one.

Sounds like good advice but I doubt that Pep Boys, Checker or Auto Zone
would know. Maybe some performance shop.

Actually my local Amsoil rep had all the info.  They have a great filter
too. Hastings I think.
