It was fun beating up Ms. Adrian Hyphenated Name but it's time for me to
go put in about a hundred fast miles on my bike. Can't neglect the
training. Cheerio for now . . .

Hope you had a good ride Shad.  Im curious to know how expensive this
bike of yours is ?  Sounds like something Lance would peddle.  I have a
1978 Schwinn 10 speed that i bought very good used a few years ago for
$150 and I had him throw in a new seat, rewrap the handlebars, and do a
tuneup on it.  I take it along in the cargo area of my RV...yes, it fits
even standing up on a bit of slant. Its great fun and excersise but i
only do a few miles at a time for recreation and exploring the area that
im in.  If theres a grocery store a couple miles away from where im
camping, ill take the bike with my backpack .

Adrian isnt a 'Ms'  ;  Adrian is a male  licensed U.K. Psychologist
approaching 60 years of age whom ive had great fun with over the years
discussing his irrational worldview and being a follower of our
degrading culture.  After awhile, he tends to grow on you as a
fascinating study subject .. a truly remarkable person given his
professional qualifications.

Thanks, but I wonder why a man has a girl's name. Especially somebody
who claims to have a doctorate degree. He should change it to something
more masculine. His writing sounds sorta female too. And that hyphenated
name. Only girls use hyphenated names because they want to keep their
maiden name once they get hitched.

It's good you ride a bike even if it's a cheapo bike. At least you get
some exercise and cheapo bikes are OK for people just out to get
exercise. You don't have to worry about people stealing them, at least.

I have to keep my bike under lock and key all the time because it's so
valuable and everybody wants to pinch a top-named athlete's bike.
Probably could sell it on EBay for fifty grand or something.

My Cervelo's custom carbon frame costs over six thousand dollars. I've
got wheels (Zipp 909 discs - 23 hundred bucks) that cost more than most
people's bikes plus a set of 808s for when it's too windy for the disc.
I've got DuraAce components of course and all the latest trick stuff
made out of carbon. Ceramic bearings and bottom bracket. Easton Attack
carbon fiber aerobar (600 bucks) The bike weighs only about fifteen
pounds. I'd guess the total price of the bike is 10 to 12 large. And my
'Daddy' didn't buy it for me. I make a good living. Better than most of
the paupers here who have a chip on their shoulder about their betters
in financial matter.

Oh yeah, I had a good ride. A hundred miles in a little over four hours.
That's the level I'm on. I wonder how many people here other than me can
do 25 miles per hour on a bike for four hours straight? The answer to
that is NONE. And, no RV tried to bully me. There were a few but they
shared the road without crowding me. Maybe the word's getting around
being spread by RVers in this group that they need to be more polite to
cyclists.

Thats quite an investment you have there in the bike.  Glad you have a
hobby you enjoy.  How about Truckers...do they tend to run you off the
road also ?  Hope not.  The road is for everyone so long as they obey
the road laws ; i dont have respect for cyclists who dont stop at stop
signs as it appears they think they are above the Law. Same goes for
RVers though.   I have a 1970 Classic Corvette and i find many motorists
pulling road manuevers with me cause they know I will stop in order to
protect my investment.  Its sad, but its the way things are.

What do u feel like after a 100 mile ride in 4 hours ?  How is your
cardio vascular system ?

Ya gotta have the best to be competitive these days. Especially when you
don't dope. Lots of riders still try to get away with doping and some
manage to but I'd rather not take the chance. Look what just happened to
Floyd Landis.

Truckers are pretty polite drivers for the most part. But watch out for
Mexican or Cuban drivers - they're not very professional and tend to
bully like some RVers. You know, you made a good point about drivers
getting away with what they can. I think a big part of the bully
mentality has to do with that. Might makes right in lots of small minds.

Resting heart rate of about 50bpm Sleeping rate in the high 30s low 40s.
BP in the normal range and after a ride that relaxes the blood vessels
it's sometimes very low - around 105/65 if well hydrated. Max heart rate
205bpm. I train alternately at the aerobic threshold which is 70-75% of
the AT and then at the anaerobic threshold of 85-95% of max heart rate.
Calories burned during a four hour ride can be as much as 8,000.   V02
max of 83ml per kg. (better than Lance's ). After a good training ride I
feel a little sore in the legs and sorta drained but relaxed and
invigorated. Appetite comes on strong about an hour after completion.
After about four hours I feel back to normal. This is if it's not too
hot. If it's very hot it's hard to stay hydrated and dehydration makes
you feel worn out for maybe 8 hours.

Without a headwind I can average 25mph without going anaerobic. Hills or
headwinds sometimes puts me into the anaerobic range to maintain that
average. This is individual riding. Riding in a peloton easily ups the
average to thirty mph or above without going anaerobic. I train for my
specialty which is individual time trials and there's no drafting
allowed in this discipline so you have to be able to go and stay
anaerobic for much of the time. Thankfully most ITTs are forty miles or
less. Prologs much shorter than that - usually six to ten miles - an all
out sprint.

Have you won any races ?  What distance (s)  ?  And,  how close behind
was the guy who finished 2nd ?   Can u post a pic or two of your bike  ?
Dave.

Looks like you're better than all these slacker record holders.

I said a "little over four hours." To be precise, it was four hours and
20 minutes. A bit slower than all these guys but not gals (Pamela is
slooooooow). But, since it was a training ride and I wasn't busting my
a.s I think I can say I can beat any of these amateurs in a race. I can
go under four hours easy in a race unless there is a lot of climbing
involved.

So "To be precise" you can't average 25 MPH when it is 4 hours and 20
minutes. More like 23.08 miles per hour and that would not beat speeds
or times listed except Pam and Paul. Where are the records of your
speeds listed? With your abilities I'm sure you have been at a record
pace in many events?

No doubt about it they're listed lots of places but the list is long.
How about just one record that might give even the clueless a clue as to
who I am. "Fastest individual time trial in Tour de France history."
