If you have to ask, you haven't read much traffic.
One difference: RORVT has a charter:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
SHORT VERSION OF REC.OUTDOORS.RV-TRAVEL CHARTER
---------------------------------------------------------------------
[Intended topic areas include] Recreational Vehicles, meaning:
Any Recreational Vehicle; that is: Motor Homes (all classes), Trailers
(Fifth wheels, Travel, Tent), and others such as Conversions, Pop ups,
Slide outs Campers, camping reports, destinations, upcoming events,
full timing, equipment reports, requests for repair help, etc.
Rec.outdoors.rv-travel is not intended for commercial for-sale
postings. Appropriate private advertisements, both 'FOR-SALE' and
'WANTED' are acceptable, commercial posts are not. This newsgroup
specifically does *not* permit commercial advertising, postings by
dealers selling or soliciting equipment, or postings by amateurs
regularly dealing in used equipment principally or incidentally for
purposes of financial gain.
Individuals who make their livelihood by selling Recreational
Vehicle, services or those employed in the industry are welcome to
participate. But, should NOT post advertisements for their services.

Hey, Tim.
I've followed both of them for all the nine years I've been here. Some
folks are on both, and to me they just seem to run together. I don't pay
much attention to who's on one only, or which one.
There's less political BS on alt.rv, though. But there are some folks
here that I've filtered for various reasons, as there are on RORT.
Some folks just insist on carrying on conversations with people I
consider not to have anything to contribute and whom I have already
filtered for that reason. I filter the others as soon as I see a pattern
developing.
I don't believe I'm missing much <g>.

Hi GBinNC,
Haven't been in your neck of the woods in awhile.
So tell me, is it a bad thing to post on both groups?
Something about double posting... Is that a no no?

No, it's not bad to cross post to both groups. Posts to one are On
Topic and relative to the other. If you do cross post, set a
Followups-To: header and pick one group to receive replies in.
Otherwise you will be chasing posts back and forth.
Do cross post, don't make a separate, duplicate post to each group.

What Frank said.
Frank, how do you set a "Followups-To: header"?

I'm not sure you can do it in your version of Agent. In later
versions, it's part of an option to add "Extra Headers". You might
try to search in Help on Extra Headers.

Nothing in the help index on that, or even on "headers." No big deal,
though. I don't cross-post often, and when I do I don't have any trouble
following the responses. At least I haven't noticed if I do <g>.
But thanks. Always looking for better ways to do things.

Yes, and thank-you. :)
(I just love it when someone ELSE posts valuable "netiquette"!)
I sometimes wonder how many are "here" using a newsreader compared to those
using a web browser. IOW, how many really know what usenet is?

Actually, this is one of the rare groups that actually has a mirror in
the Big 7. Searching for an RV group mostly will only turn up alt.rv.
Any post here in alt.rv is actually totally relevant in RORT.
However, the Followup is still the way to go.
