Dave in Lake Villa - 26 Sep 2007 01:15 GMT Since you live in the southern part of Texas, can u tell me if there are any interesting things to do/see/take in off the top of your head... for the following towns that i shall be passing thru ? :
Galveston, Galveston Island, Corpus Christi , Austin, and El Paso .
Thanks.

Galveston has the Moody Gardens and several Victorian Mansions. They have a Dickensonian thing going on The Strand around Christmas time each year. There is also an air museum.
Galveston Island is what lies outside the city of Galveston. Nice beaches but very, very windy. Good surf casting if you can stand the wind.
Corpus Christi has an aquarium and a museum. Not one of my favorite towns, but there is a nice cathedral.
Both have lots of seafood restaurants.
Between Corpus and Galveston you will find the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge which is beautiful. There is a nature center within the preserve and the Rangers and volunteers will point you in the direction of critter watching.
Austin is our capitol city and it's filled with cultural experiences. Lots of sidewalk cafes. Lots of great music and places to hear it. The capitol building is interesting to visit. The new museum is not. It does have a lot of charm and scads of wonderful restaurants.
Austin gets ice and snow in the winter. It's not a good wintering place and RV parks are on the steep side. I think that even the state parks in the area are a bit pricey.
On the University of Texas Campus you will find the JFK Presidential Library. We like this library since it seems to have the most interesting stuff. They recently redid it.
I have only passed through El Paso so I don't know the finer points of visiting there. Again, it's a city and it's urban.
You could Google all of those places and see for yourself.
Though I live in Southern Texas, I am miles and miles away from all of those places. The closest is Corpus which is about 250 miles.
I think the weather here in the Lower Rio Grande Valley is better than the places you've chosen and there is much more to do here as we have a large winter population of RVers. There is some winter visitor activity in the area of Rockport-Fulton and Corpus.
If you get bored with urban living and the strong winds on the beaches of North Padre and Mustang Islands, you might consider our area which is so famous with RVers that it's known as "The" Valley. Lots of people from Illinois winter here. Two of our closest friends own a campground in Illinois and winter in Rio Hondo, about 12 miles from me.

2. Why dont you care for Corpus Christi ?
Thank you Janet., Most helpful info. Dave.

There is live music all over the place in dozens, many dozens, of venues. When I'm in Austin, it's usually not, "Can I find some music?", but "Which music will I hear?"

Dave in Lake Villa - 20 Oct 2007 19:22 GMT Give it a rest you retired Kook of a Chemist ! Find something better to do with the last few years of your life than promoting malice . Im not a homosexual and ive never been one , dont care to be one, and speak out against the perversion lifestyle. Are you still shacking up with the Prostitute in California ? Tell us about that commonsense strategy.

You're a LIAR.. That post was written by YOU, and not some "made up malice" like you calim The headers PROVE it You've ADMITTED to your homosexual past, and that fact will never go away, no matter what you say, how you try to weasle out of it, or where you try to deflect the attention...FUNDY FOOL

Dave's reply is "Yes on most of those . . . " Dave would have had to say "Yes on *all* of those . . ." in order for your ignorant assertion to be true. Most does not mean all. Of the four vices listed Dave said he indulged in most of them. This means he could have indulged in alcohol (big deal!) illegal drugs (so he smoked some pot, big deal!), prostitutes - (not so good) and not homosexuality because he didn't say all.
It's plain you're too stupid to understand plain and simple English. Now, go to the back of the class!

Dave in Lake Villa - 21 Oct 2007 01:14 GMT Im surprised Ken hasnt thought of how he might be offending Sharron who IS a self proclaimed Homosexual, by ranting on and on about how wrong it is . Give it a rest you Kook ! Youre only making yourself look stupid . Whenever you try your brand of malice , it always backfires on you .. to the point that others eventually tell you to knock it off and leave the NG. The fact that youre so infactuated with this shows to what low levels you are willing to go as a Malice Master. You need God in your life instead of pretending your great ancestor was some slimey green Pond Scum . Just tell God youre sorry for the way youve willingly rejected him all your life , and be done with it. Then he can start making you a man of integrity .

I'll say it again. Get your head out of your arse and learn how English works. That's like asking, "What if I once did go to the moon does that make me an astronaut? It doesn't mean you actually DID go to the moon.
