In my 1985 27 ft Southwind, I am trying to locate the house water
pump .. the other day when working on my hot water heater it cycled
off and i hooked up the water hose to keep the pressure up while i
worked with the heater... thinking the water level was low in the
reservoir.... I guess the pump went bad, or is there a pressure switch
that could be fouled up somehow? I have checked the fuse.. its good...
i can not locate the pump for the life of me... i know it's a red wire
cause that's what is out of the fuse panel...
I am going to a concert tomorrow night; a friend of mine drives a
Prevost tour bus and he has an extra pump he will give me.. will this
kind of pump work in my old RV?

First thing to do is unhook the house water supply and see if your pump will
work.
If it does, follow the sound to find the pump.
If the pump still doesn't work, find your water tank.
Your pump will be near the tank.
Most 12 volt pumps made for RV water supply should work but the fittings
might be different.

Your description of the problem is kinda vague. But, since you were
working on the water system, I would assume you may have turned a
valve off that should be on. If you are SURE the valves are in the
correct position, then look at the pump.
Hank <~~knows valving can be confusing to most.

Can't say where yours is, but mine was in the bathroom at the bottom of the
cabinet the sink was in.... drove me nuts finding it, finally filled the
water tank, turned the bathroom sink on, and sat on the toilet to "think" :)

REPLY : ITs going to be behind a removable access cover that is screwed
on , will be at floor level, typically close to the fresh water storage
tank (but not always). Start by removing an access cover at a time from
the inside.

If you have a valve shut off the pressure may keep the pump off and no
sound.

In my previous RV the pump was under one of the twin beds. The
current RV has the pump in the area under the kitchen sink. I
have to remove a panel to get to it but I can see where it is
with a flashlight. It is not accessible from any of the
basement compartments.
All of these systems are very compact. It won't be far from the
fresh water tank. It will be accessable because you need to get
to it to do a proper winterization.
It will be above the floor boards, probably. Keep looking.

I am not sure that you need to get to them for winterization. My pump
will suck the antifreeze into it and then thru the lines. I have no
need to access mine, neither do my friends.
Hank <~~~no frozen lines yet.
