i have a 1985 27 ft fleetwood southwind with a duothem heater...im in
florida at sea level if that matters... the heater pops and doesnt
quite get going every time.. it will work sometimes.. it seems to work
better if i take the adjuster screw out and move it way to the left at
0... it says stock is 1.5 ...i have taken it apart and blown out the
dirtdobbers from the exaust and it still pops after a while... could
it be that the adjuster is out of wack and needs to be bent back? or
could it be time for a new regulator.. on it i saw wires on 2
valves... thanks

The Heater could have a variety of things wrong with it ;  it needs to
be professionally serviced if its that old including checking the
incoming gas pressure to the gas valve, as well as the manifold pressure
after the gas valve,  the spark ignitor cleaned and adjusted, the flame
sensor cleaned,  the pilot burner , main burner(s) ,  clean the blower
wheel,  and tighten all electrical connections.   More than likely,
doing maintenance routines as described above will remedy your current
anomoly.

REPLY:  Take it to the nearest Camping World service center or an
Independent RV Dealer in your locale.  Approx. Propane pressures
required are :  12-13 " w.c.  incoming and 9-10" w.c. manifold.  The
qualified Service person you take it to will know this info  as well as
how to diagnose it and repair it.

Dave, Thanks for the information... Thanks for not addressing this
matter in the like that I am the first typical moron to own an RV
other than Mr. Harris... I will take it to get it serviced or buy a
new unit.. I've seen them on EBay and other websites for 350$ ... that
may be smarter if the repairs are extensive....again thanks for your
help and this thread is SOLVED.

Good grief! If this is the typical RV owner is it any wonder you can read
news stories all the time about them blowing up or burning up so often. Hey,
man, get a clue. Hire a repairman who's familiar with propane heaters before
you come to grief or harm your neighbor with your stupidity.
