Are fifth wheel fixer uppers a good deal? I am considering this one:
http://tinyurl.com/2v5puo

I previously owned a Fleetwood popup and I have no experience with
these. A friend said that a 5-8 year old unit is the best bet. I am
partial to this particular brand but really know little. Any help or
comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all,

Jack

That has a salvage title. While most things could probably be repaired,
you have no idea from the photo if the frame was twisted. Once that
happens, it can't really be fixed. That's why insurance companies will
total a trailer even if it looks okay on the surface.

Professional adjusters can eye-ball a twisted frame. Most lay people can't.

My advice it to not mess with it.

A twisted frame should be easy to spot.  And they're even eaiser to fix.
You just twist it back.

I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole let alone dump money into it. There
is so much major structural damage it would require removal of the
siding, the roof, the ac plus removal of all the damaged wood. The
insurance company knew what it was doing when they declared it a total
loss. Please don't take this route. That brand, Fleetwood, is not worth
spending time a money on. Do a search on rvtraderonline.com and
rvonline.com. You will find some trailers still in good condition for
just a little more than this clowns reserve price. He's just looking for
some fool to bail him out of a bad buy.

I believe Jack was looking at a Prowler, not a Fleetwood. If that is true,
then is what you have said in conclusion in error?

Given a few months, if you start right now, you *might* figure it out!

Prowler is a high quality brand, one of the best.

How would you guys rate it on a scale of 1-10. 1 being the Long Island
garbage barge and 10 being super solid, well thought out and never breaks.

Thanks,

Steve

The last time I looked Prowler is still a fleetwood brand!!
Steve Barker - 03 Dec 2007 00:21 GMT
Just because it's not a good brand in Janet's warped mind, doesn't mean it's
not a good brand.

Fleetwood builds Prowler and has for well over a decade, if not two.

Try not to show your ignorance. People would probably like you better if
you didn't try to be the king.

That reserve is way too high. I have a neighbor that bought a trailer like
that in Florida and pulled it out here to the desert. For  five years he's
been fixing framework  and windows as the wood around them rots. The inside
of his trailer still smells musty. It's really not worth the work he's put
into it.
