I ordered my AC on E bay today. Should be here tomorrow. I got a low profile
13.5  Carrier??  7.5 inches tall so it should no increase my over all
height. I tried calling multiple RV dealers and keep getting high prices and
6 to 8 weeks for an appointment plus $100.00 per hour per tech to install.
Install prices were estimates only so they had you by the cahounies as to
the total price. I will install this myself once I figure out how to get it
lifted onto the roof.

Have you considered renting a crane or a cargo helicopter? :)

I used a convenient tree branch  in RV park to remove the a/c from my
old Jayco.  Nobody wanted it, so it went in the trash.  Replaced it
with a useful roof vent.

I will be glad to get rid of the roof vent cause its lets in to much light
in the mornings. . I am trying to figure out how to get rid of the SKYLITE
in the shower next. It lets in way to much lite. I may paint it and if it
cracks its a goner. Its made in such a way you cant stop the sun from
shining in. I really hate the sun shining thru any part of my roof.  Trying
to stay cool in Texas

I used to use aluminm foil and duct tape... For the bedroom windows I used
to use those foil window shade/covers (waterproof, so dew wouldn't kill em,
should work for the bathroom skylight too)

Did you use thr foil and duct tape on the top of the skylite or do it from
inside. I hate that skylite.

Inside so I didn't have to go up on the roof, however if you are trying to
keep cooler inside, you may want to put it on the outside..... should be low
profile enuf that it won't blow off when you travel, and if a tree banch etc
rips it, wont cost an arm/leg to replace it..... For the roof vent (not the
skylight) I just used squares of foam rubber shoved into the vent holes to
block the light (had one right over the bed in back, used to drive me nuts,
but wanted to be able to run the quiet fantastic fan while sleeping.....

The one right over the bed will be an AC soon as I figure out how to get the
AC onto my roof,  What do you think abouting painting the skylite silver or
white from the roof side. Think the paint will cause the plastic to crack by
absorbing to much heat when the Texas sun get it??

Probably not, specially if it is a light color, but the chance of it being
scraped by a branch/etc and leaving an annoying light leak is probably
pretty high... how bout limo dark/reflective solar film from an auto supply
store, works on sun roofs in cars... Haven't tried it on something on the
roof, but I put it on the side windows to cut down sun glare/fade....

Get some Reflectix from hardware/building supply, cut a sqare slightly
larger than skylite/vent and stuf it up there.  Will also keep
condensation from forming in winter.

Some places sell by yard, some by roll.  It's two layers of foil with
bubble-wrap sandwiched between (What Scamp uses for insulation).

Could also make bigger pieces for windows, with velcro.

I used a piece of "gatorboard" from a graphics supply place. Cut it out
to fit under the shower skylight and used heavy duty velcro to hold it
in place under the skylight. Gatorboard is black plastic and is light
tight. You can cut it with an utility knife. The hook portion of the
velcro goes on the lip of the skylight and the loop on the cover. That
keeps the felt like loop from holding water. I remove the cover and put
it under the mattress of the bed when showering. Put it back up before
bed.

Like you all I like damn near total dark when I am sleeping.

There is spray can paint available at the big box stores that is for
plastic. It has a picture of one of those $10 plastic chairs that
breaks if you move while sitting in one. :-(  I sprayed my bedroom
vent cover 3 years ago and it still looks new!!

The paint is Krylon FUSION.

It can also function as a primer if you want to put a silver (reflective
Aluminum) top coat on it.

You can test your procedure - and decide the in/out-side question - by
painting clear plastic "Solo" cups.

For those not installing the ultimate in conveniences in the vent
opening, but still awakened by early morning light, Camping World sells
a very handy, almost cheap accessory: the Vent Cushion.

I have used this little item for years and it works well.

< sniped a lot>

Yes I know they do, in fact I have 4 of them. They my

insulate but the lite still get in. When the sun is hitting them they glow
like a 60w bulb.

Snipped a lot?  You snipped EVERYTHING.

What are "they"?

Now WHO can argue with THAT?

The AC unit is on the roof just sitting there waiting for me to remove the
vent and bolt it down. May do this tommorow if no rain is nearby. It was
sorta a bitch getting that Skylift helochopper here on such a short notice.
Was not  to sure about this Ebay AC but it was as Advertized and I am glad I
did it now. My nephew in Lane City ordered one also and should get it
Monday.

Getting ready for the heat of summer.
