I recently saw a thread on another forum about getting tomato sauce
stains out of fabric day/night shades. Since the shades next to our
dining table have had some of those stains for a couple years now, I
tried one of the recommended solutions: a product called "Tide To Go".
It actually worked! The stains are completely gone, with no
discoloration of the shades. It took all of about ten minutes to remove
at least a half dozen spots.
It always amazes me when a product works as advertised.

Another secret weapon (if you can find it) is Armor All
Multi-Purpose Auto Cleaner. It has a white/blue cap and
black/blue label (the stuff you find in most grocery stores,
with the orange cap/label, is virtually useless).
This cleaner does miracles on any surface where you can
scrub a bit, without doing damage (e.g. carpet/upholstery
stains etc).
