Propane is safe on RVs. You have to crash them real bad to have problems
which is almost never. Methane buildup in the blackwater tank is more of a
danger.

You shouldn't poke fun at what is a severely dangerous explosive heavier
than air gas. It so happens that propane fires and explosions are the NUMBER
ONE reason for insurance claims to GMAC insurance company. On the average
one or more RVs blow up or catch fire because of faulty propane systems each
and every day!

And, the huge explosion last year at D'Anconia copper mine number 16 down in
South America was caused by a propane leak.

So, if you play with fire plan on eventually getting burned.

Not even close to being true.  Accidents are #1.  Fires are way down the
list.

So, by your crooked definition, a 'troll' is somebody who tells the truth?

GMAC Insurance top five RV claims:
1. Refrigerator fires and propane tanks. GMAC Insurance receives at least
400 claims per year due to refrigerator fires caused by leaking propane
tanks. A rig can burn up in as fast as six minutes as a result of leaks in
the propane tank system. Another problem: Tailgating sports fans wanting to
show their support have even painted their tanks the teams' colors. Dark
colors more readily absorb the sun's rays and can cause the tank to overheat
and explode.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....  so now you're narrowing it down to JUST RV
claims.....   The story changes.    So it's the #1 _RV_ claim.  NOT the
"NUMBER ONE reason
for insurance claims to GMAC insurance company."  as you originally posted.

In case you haven't noticed yet, this is an RV newsgroup. Duh!

That article is repeated on numerous websites word for word.  Do a bit
of research rather than an editorial not directly from the insurance
industry.  Note that there is no references cited.  It's worthless!

Now, there are some substantiated reports regarding fire claims.  Those
are almost entirely for the years of the Dometic recalled fridges.  Take
those facts away and people such as yourself will buy anything.

Actually;

I'd suggested Harry not smoke, or 'he' might catch fire being he's "HAIRY".

I have had Harry filtered for a long time.  I feel sorry for a poor
soul that has such a baseless paranoia.  I agree that there can be
problems with propane but considering the huge number of people using
and carrying propane, the actual number is microscopically small.

I am a lot more worried about electrical fire in my RV due to loosened
connections (read high current density) and subsequent problems. These
are much more numerous and kill/injure many more people than propane.

I have had 2 homes come dangerously close to burning from outlet
sockets with loose connections.

My sister has a propane based home, with heat, water heater functions
and cooking all propane powered.  In the 50 years she has lived there
she has had only one close call and that was caused by a fireplace
pumping hot ash on to a shake roof. (Very old construction).  I happen
to have a smell sensitive nose and caught it before it got out of hand
and only did about $4,000 Damage.  Roof was replaced with asphalt
shingles the next day!

Did you know that asphalt shingles burn almost as easily as propane? It was
a stupid thing to use on that roof. The only really safe roof these days is
a metal roof. Powder coated or galvanized steel roofs are the safest around.
They won't burn and are more wind proof than most other roofs. Does your
sister have a big life insurance policy with you as a beneficiary? Why else
would you have an even more flammable roof installed over her head?

Well hell Hairy;

Why build houses out of sticks or logs.  I mean logs burn, sticks burn.  I
think all of the house's should be built from something much less flammable.
Not only that, plaster and drywall.  Do you know that 1/2" drywall can burn
in less than an hour.  OMG.  We should be living in tin sheds with metal
siding, metal floors and metal roofs.  But wait, wait, what will it take to
heat or cool these tin sheds?  Since metal is a high conductor of energy
[heat] .... it'll be everything but comfortable in those boxes.  And what
about glass windows.  No no no no, we can't have glass windows.  They break
and someone can get cut.  OMG!  And the kitchen!  Do you realize that most
accidents around the home happen in the bathroom!  Slip and fall accidents.
And, OMG wait, if we have metal floors, then everyone will slip and fall to
their death.  We can't have that.  No to metal floors.  Yes to dirt.  Dirt
floors are so much better.  We won't slip and fall, and hey, if you spill
stuff, no baggie.  Just dig a hole and bury it!  Yes, I believe a metal
shed, with a dirt floor would be the best plan.!

Don't you think so Hairy?
