The "legal" way to register an RV in Montana is to set up a Montana-based
corporation (LLC) that owns the RV. There are many law firms that specialize
in doing this. The Colorado resident would then be "leasing" the RV from the
corporation. Many states have a requirement as to how long a vehicle may be
in that state before changing the registration. If you're a full-timer, it
should be easy to be legal.
FMI, do a Google search on "RV Montana LLC".
Tax evasion is illegal.
Tax *avoidance* is paying the least amount of tax without breaking any laws.
