In today's Wall Street Journal 8/14/08 on page D1 is an article
titled:

"The RV Lifestyle on $4 a Gallon"

The article is a hoot!

It cites 7 mpg!

It cites $500 fillups!

It cites people in checkout lines lambasting RVers for being gas
guzzling pigs!

Oink!

At 7 mpg a 3,000 mile diesel RV trip would cost $2200!

Oink!

bwahahahahahahahahahaa!!!!

Good riddance to you road hogs!

pigs!!!!!

Yes, the day of the large, gas-guzzling RV is coming to an end but there is
something new and responsible and efficient that might take their place. I
hope!  Check it out here: http://www.verdier.ca/  Nice video of the
features.

I want one!

REPLY: Hi Shad.  Good to see you are still about.   I just watched an
ABC-TV Nightline Special on big RV's that get 6 mpg towing a car
behind.  The consensus was , that even though its costing $4.00 to
travel just 6 miles  , the owners of these big Rigs arent going to let
it stand in their way of having a Hobby/Lifestyle/Purpose  in thier
Golden Years . Of course they must have the financial capital to make
it happen to which i say, more power to them.  There is a current
slump in big RV sales right now , but,  it will rebound once the
economy does.  Just think Shad...there isnt anything that can run over
a Class A RV !   Be careful as you cycle on down the Boulevard cause
theres still lots of Big RV's barreling down the roads .   Beep
beep !  :)

Nice to see you've come bauck, Dave. God bless you. (and your not so secret
admirer, Halonfires too,)

The owners of those big, 6mpg RV's will soon tire of shelling out all their
fixed retirement dollars on fuel. It's already happening and I see a lot
less of these road hogs on the roads these days. Thank God for small favors.

And there's something else working on their Alzheimer's prone brains. It's
the fact that what they do is polluting the planet. Probably you think this
won't matter to them because they won't live to see the environment
destroyed by their greenhouse effect. But, selfish as they might tend to be,
many have children and grandchildren and they care about their own. I think
sooner or later it will dawn on them that their idea of recreation is
environmentally irresponsible and it will destroy their children's and
grandchildren's quality of life. I think this matters very much to them.
Sooner or later they'll have to wake up and smell the roses. Life isn't all
about them. They have one foot in the grave already. Life is about future
generations and what we leave the Earth like for them.

That's what I think, at least.

No one cares what you think. This post may not even be what you think.
You are just trolling for an argument.

Wishful thinking -- Don't forget that many owners of BulgeMobile RVs
don't actually use them to travel long distances -- They slowly move
from place to place, using the toad to explore OR they are seasonal
migrators, making the round trip between winter and summer quarters
just once annually.

Many of us aren't driving rigs that only get single digit mileage, and
the folks with the single digit rigs really don't care that much about
the cost of fuel.

If you want to discuss fuel wastage, check out corporate jets...
