Ive been doing it seasonally, for about 4 years now and just love it
as much as when i first started doing it. The freedom is awesome, i
almost always meet some fine folks,  i get revitalized in my Soul,
and enjoy being in Nature that accompanies it . If anyone has had a
change of heart toward the negative regarding RVing....id be curious
to hear your reason(s)  and if you think you may take it up again at a
later date.  Thanks.

We have been RVers for decades. We even went full-time for 9 years just
taking our house with us wherever we went. We were in 49 states and
every Canadian province plus the Yukon Territory. We bought a stuck to
the ground house after the 9 years on the road but we only continued to
RV for another 2 years.

Poor health was the main reason for giving it up. I don't think we'll
ever go back to it.

So sorry to hear you had to stop RVing due to health reasons.  But im
sure you have tons of memories and pictures to reflect on.

Not only do we have lots of memories and photos, we've collected friends
from all over North America. We have a concrete pad with full hookups
next to our house and we are often hosts to our RVing friends.

I think the best part of RVing is the friends one makes along the journey.

I agree with that. A week doesn't go by that we don't have RVing
friends phone, stop by for a meal, and on occasion, spend a couple of
nights on our RV pad that is adjacent to our house. We get email from
RVers almost daily.  We would like to still be out there, but at 79,
I'm one of the few that knew I needed to stop pulling that trailer
down the highway while the shinny side was still up!!

Yes...RVing is certainly an instrument for developing lifelong
friendships...a very wholesome hobby indeed.   Im so looking forward
to a long trip in January ; im taking a Florida coastal RV trip
starting at Pensacola going all the way around ending  in St.
Augustine , Fl. on the other side.  Im taking 6-8 weeks to do it .

My folks are RV'ing less and less and may give it up as well.  Their
health is decent but they both said RV'ing is getting to be too much
work for them but they still love it so do so when they can.

I have to be carefull with my SO as she does not like to travel all
day.  Believe it or not some folks just like to stay in one place. ;-)

Ive talked to more RVers who tell me to just travel between 4-5 hours
and then do some activity or rest , providing you dont have any
deadlines.  I typically get on the road by 9 a.m.  and travel till 4
pm   ; that seems to work out good for me so long as i dont have to go
thru alot of busy towns which is tiresome.

My only complaint is there's not enough time. I'm still a worker bee, and -
only have weekends to RV..... and there's not enough of those either.

I think RVers should seriously reconsider their "hobby" or "lifestyle."
There are a few good reasons why I think RVing is selfish, irresponsible and
in bad taste.

1) What kind of person has no home life so they willingly become itinerants?

2) What kind of a person selfishly and chronically pollutes the air with a
vehicle that maybe gets 5 or 6 mpg?

3) Why can't people stay home and enjoy themselves and keep a low profile
and user-friendly footprint on the environment?

4) If all you have to do with your life is drive 8-10 hours a day, stop and
go to sleep, and get up and do it all over again just what are you trying to
escape from? The reality that you have no real life?

5) Aren't the highways and byways crowded enough without adding to the
congestion large, dangerously driven, totally unnecessary, recreational
vehicles to the mix. Hey, people are trying to get to their jobs. Truckers
are trying to deliver freight. Children are trying to cross the road. You
get in everybody's way with your too large vehicles and even bigger bellies!

6) Nature my a.s! If you enjoy nature then try riding a horse or taking
shanks mare. Lose the ugly RV. Lose the extra 50-100 pounds of fat.

Your whining on a usenet newsgroup about what YOU want is selfish,
irresponsible and in bad taste.

Hmm, mine gets about 18mpg towing, well over 20 not towing.

Everyone lives their life doing what they enjoy.  If you like to stay
home whining on usenet then I guess thats your choice.

> 4) The reality that you have no real life?

Whining on usenet endlessly is a real life?

> 5) Hey, people are trying to get to their jobs. Children are trying to cross the road.

Not many drive over the interstates far away from cities to get to their
jobs.  Please keep your children off of the interstates and in school!
