The RV Industry - One Foot in the Grave.

Shad O'Shay - 12 Aug 2009 23:37 GMT I love it because I've been reading about the dire straits the RV industry's in. Lots of manufacturers have already gone bankrupt and shut the factories for good. Others are in Chapter 11 and 13 and probably won't survive much longer.
This is good news to me. The fewer of these ugly, behemoth pollution factories on the road endangering my bicycle training rides and ruining the fresh air the better I like it. Now all we need is a double whammy. We need gasoline and diesel up to around five bucks a gallon and most of the RVs will just stay parked.
Go Cap and Trade legislation! Put a huge tax on fuel so it's way above five bucks a gallon. It's good for the environment and better for cyclists in many ways. I love Obama. He's gonna have it fixed so almost everybody has to ride bikes.

Im afraid theres going to be alot of RV's > sharing the road with Bikers Shad . Lets all get along . A truce in > order ; yes ??? Boy!! are you ever clueless. Gas prices are NOT staying down. They've managed to work themselves up to about 3 bucks a gallon many places. And they'll go higher unless we "drill baby drill." That ain't gonna happen. The Obama administration won't allow drilling. But they WILL push for the Cap and Trade law. This will definitely drive the cost of energy through the roof. Look for ten dollar a gallon gasoline and diesel by 2015 if Cap and Trade passes. Look for your electric bill, heating bill, cable bill, grocery bill, etc all go through the roof. Everything produced uses energy and when energy is taxed everything's gonna go up skyhigh.
As for RVs being used by boomers to live in that ain't gonna happen either. You don't live cheaply in an RV on the move. You can park them and live in them pretty cheaply but boomers expect to live in large homes with all the conveniences. RV living is too much like camping out. Boomers are too selfish and spoiled to live like that. Most of em are way outta shape and need to be close to an emergency room. You know the drill. Strokes and heart failure . . .
Bye bye RVs! (Good riddance!)

Gas prices have gone up because of the week dollar. You can't fix that with an oil drill rig. All drilling will do is line the pockets of the oil industry. We need to support american industry. Buy america and save america.

i wonder why he says nuclear energy is ok for iran, but *NOT* for the us.... heck isn't it green/non carbon creating? can't industry work off nuclear created power? come to think of it, isn't nuclear power an industry? shouldn't we support american industry?

One very serious problem with nuclear power (all the fear mongering about accidents aside) is that the water demands for cooling the reactor are tremendous, and the "spent" water, when returned to the environment, is returned at a higher temperature than it was when extracted. That can have profound effects on marine life, for example.

BTW, fuel-burning electrical generating plants also produce heated water (that's what they burn the fuel to provide) that is cooled in ponds that are often stocked with gamefish. <g>

Lee - 04 Nov 2009 12:26 GMT > As long as there are fish. Here in Florida the Manatees like the warmer water and when it gets cold enough they can be found in warm water outlets coming from power plants. Here also the red snapper is threatened also so we expect there will be a lot written about that also. I think we are depleting the stocks of fish and lots of other things also.

Don't know if there is a way other than controlling fishing in waters by the respective countries. Maybe fish farming where eggs are taken from fish caught and then raised in hatcheries. We are doing something similar with turtles by protecting their nesting areas, but then that is easier on land than the ocean. Control catches but that requires the countries agree on preservation of the species. There will always be some that won't abide by the law but the penalties if stiff enough could deter most. They do a good job with salmon and trout here so I would assume it could work, but people will have to believe there is really a shortage of them. There are so many conflicting stories who knows which are correct.

IMHO, this is where the UN could be of use but, as usual, they are impotent. A UN sanction of, say, no vote for 2 years as a beginning might be sufficient. I don't know but to date the UN has accomplished nothing in its 62 years but take OUR money and bash us.

Made for some great warm water swimming. I don't remember seeing any fish but once in a while we would get swarms of sharks seeking warm water. They were small sharks and they didn't bother us. The haole tourists would quickly vacate the waters though. Eddie

Most of us do not know. Somebody posted "his" Obit then somebody also started the same old drivel with that name. The only reason I don't KF him is that it's easier to see him post them just kill the thread.

With a crowbar.
