Is it difficult to change the thermostat on a 1993 9000CDE? It's running a
little hot and I think it's due to the fact that it has the thermostat for
a colder climate (previous owner lived in Ohio - I live in L.A). Or do I
need a mechanic for this? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Have a look at the procedure here http://www.quasimotors.com/tstat1.htm. Here http://www.thesaabsite.com/Coolantinfo.htm for info on coolant., and good information here http://www.thesaabsite.com/9000/9000faqs.htm under the "HEATING & COOLING SYSTEM" heading. You might, just for the sake of not dealing with the mess of antifreeze, have your garage change the thermostat and fan switch at the time of a coolant change. Let us know how you make out.

What a great post! Are there similar instructions for a '99 9-3? It is difficult? time consuming?
